The genome sequence of a gelechiid moth, Chionodes viduella (Fabricius, 1794) (Lepidoptera: Gelechiidae) [version 1; peer review: 1 approved]

We present a genome assembly from a male specimen of Chionodes viduella (gelechiid moth; Arthropoda; Insecta; Lepidoptera; Gelechiidae). The assembly contains two haplotypes with total lengths of 583.75 megabases and 582.01 megabases. Most of haplotype 1 (99.83%) and haplotype 2 (99.55%) are each scaffolded into 29 chromosomal pseudomolecules, including the Z sex chromosome. Hi-C data were used to phase the assembly, and both haplotypes were assembled to chromosome level. The mitochondrial genome has also been assembled, with a length of 15.46 kilobases. This work is part of Project Psyche, a collaborative programme generating genomes for European butterflies and moths.
