The genome sequence of the Poplar Kitten, Furcula bifida (Brahm, 1787) (Lepidoptera: Notodontidae) [version 1; peer review: 1 approved]

We present a genome assembly from a female specimen of Furcula bifida (Poplar Kitten; Arthropoda; Insecta; Lepidoptera; Notodontidae). The assembly contains two haplotypes with total lengths of 751.71 megabases and 670.65 megabases. For haplotypes 1 and 2, respectively, 99.73% and 99.63% of the assembly sequence was scaffolded into 50 and 48 chromosomal pseudomolecules; haplotype 1 includes the W and Z sex chromosomes. The mitochondrial genome has also been assembled, with a length of 17.35 kilobases. This work is part of Project Psyche, a collaborative programme generating genomes for European butterflies and moths.
