The genome sequence of the Bloxworth Snout, Hypena obsitalis (Hübner, 1813) (Lepidoptera: Erebidae) [version 1; peer review: 1 approved]

We present a genome assembly from a male specimen of Hypena obsitalis (Bloxworth Snout; Arthropoda; Insecta; Lepidoptera; Erebidae). The assembly contains two haplotypes with total lengths of 541.26 megabases and 538.03 megabases. Most of the haplotype 1 assembly (99.36%) was scaffolded into 31 chromosomal pseudomolecules, including the Z sex chromosome. Haplotype 2 was assembled to scaffold level. The mitochondrial genome has also been assembled, with a length of 15.56 kilobases. Gene annotation of this assembly by Ensembl identified 11,906 protein-coding genes. This work is part of Project Psyche, a collaborative programme generating genomes for European butterflies and moths.
