The chromosomal genome sequence of the Caribbean fire coral, Millepora alcicornis Linnaeus, 1758 (Anthoathecata: Milleporidae) and its associated microbial metagenome sequences [version 1; peer review: awaiting peer review]

We present a genome assembly from a specimen of Millepora alcicornis (Cnidaria; Hydrozoa; Anthoathecata; Milleporidae). The genome sequence has a total length of 3,065.30 megabases. Most of the assembly (97.85%) is scaffolded into 15 chromosomal pseudomolecules. The mitochondrial genome has also been assembled, with a length of 14.8 kilobases. Gene annotation of this assembly by Ensembl identified 18,786 protein-coding genes. From the metagenome data, we recovered four bins, of which one was a high-quality metagenome-assembled genome.
