The chromosomal genome sequence of the blushing star coral, Stephanocoenia intersepta (Lamarck, 1816) (Scleractinia: Astrocoeniidae) and its associated microbial metagenome sequences [version 1; peer review: awaiting peer review]

We present a genome assembly from a specimen of Stephanocoenia intersepta (blushing star coral; Cnidaria; Anthozoa; Scleractinia; Astrocoeniidae). The assembly contains two haplotypes with total lengths of 656.21 megabases and 656.55 megabases. Most of haplotype 1 (94.84%) is scaffolded into 13 chromosomal pseudomolecules. Haplotype 2 was assembled to scaffold level. The mitochondrial genome has also been assembled, with a length of 19.46 kilobases. Gene annotation of this assembly by Ensembl identified 26,627 protein-coding genes. From the metagenome data, we recovered five bins, of which one was a high-quality metagenome-assembled genome.
