Just ahead of this week’s IBC show, DPA have announced the launch of a new directional headset that’s been designed with the most demanding live environments in mind. Featuring a supercardioid pattern, a tightly controlled proximity effect and the company’s patent-pending Core+ technology, the 6388 Core+ builds on the design of the 4088 with improved feedback rejection, greater clarity and even more reliable real-world results.

Unlike many directional headset microphones, the 6388 Core+’s boom can be placed on either the left or right side. This feature, along with the asymmetrical capsule design and shifted acoustical axis, allows the capsule to be positioned discreetly beside or slightly behind the speaker or performer’s mouth. As well as improving aesthetics, the design also helps to reduce plosives and noise without impacting the mic’s tonal accuracy, allowing it to maintain outstanding speech intelligibility even in noisy environments. 

Along with the improvements to the mic’s performance, it also features a new and improved version of DPA’s Act Headset Frame, which is said to offer a secure and stable fit that remains comfortable over long periods. The headset is available in a range of colours, sizes and termination options.
