Performing in front of an intimate crowd at the Vancouver headquarters of the jewelry brand Pyrrha on Wednesday night, the talented singers Prince and Nirvana preceded their performance with a speech about how their lives have been changed by their education at the Sarah McLachlan School of Music (SoM).

“The impact of the community is really there, and it’s really long lasting,” Nirvana said of the music school’s influence.

More than just a celebration of McLachlan’s SoM, which has locations in Vancouver, Edmonton and New Westminster, the event marked the launch of a limited-edition jewelry design created by the Grammy Award-winning musician and Pyrrha.

The Pyrrha x Sarah McLachlan Lilith Talisman features a female figure at its centre and is designed to symbolize “feminine independence, strength and the courage to stand fully in one’s own power,” according to McLachlan.

Available in either 100 per cent reclaimed sterling silver ($400, without chain) or a solid gold version (price by request), the sale of each pendant sees $100 from the silver design and $1,000 from the gold go toward SoM.

The jewelry piece is named in honour of McLachlan’s revolutionary Lilith Fair summer music festivals, started in 1997, that celebrated female performers. The success of that music festival, McLachlan pointed out, helped to fund the first “many years” of her music school.

“These ideals were at the heart of Lilith Fair, and they continue to resonate, of course, here in 2026 perhaps more than ever,” McLachlan said of the message of empowerment and strength associated with the pendant design. “What I love most about this collaboration with Pyrrha is that this piece captures that spirit and something you can wear and carry with you, a reminder of our individual and collective power, of what we can achieve when we work together, when we lift each other up and support each other.”

Released amid International Women’s Month, the Canadian singer-songwriter says the timing was a purposeful act meant to coincide with “a time when we celebrate the achievements and creativity of women.”
