We caught up with Iacobelli to learn more:

Q: What is Jules Marie Co.?

A: Jules Marie is a Vancouver-based design studio creating custom bridal and occasion wear for women to look and feel their best on the days that matter most.

I’ve been sewing for many years and working for both local and international bridal houses for over five, so starting Jules Marie felt like the natural next step. I wanted to create a more personal, craft-driven experience where even the smallest details are considered, including thoughtful touches like hand-stitching a client’s name into every dress.

Q: What makes it unique?

A: I’d say the most unique part about a Jules Marie gown is the experience. Every piece is designed with one person in mind, beginning with a conversation between me and the bride where we take the time to understand her vision and story. This often leads to cool projects like transforming a tablecloth into a dramatic gown or working with bright colours instead of traditional white. No two pieces are exactly alike, because no two clients are.

Once the design is finalized, each dress is crafted slowly over the course of six months, with four to five meetings to refine the fit. Throughout this process, clients are invited in at every stage, watching their initial idea evolve into a piece of wearable art that I hope becomes a meaningful part of their story.

Q: Who is the target customer?

A: Our gowns are for brides who value artistry, individuality and meticulous craftsmanship. If you’re searching for something one-of-a-kind in both style and fit, having a dress custom made is the perfect solution.

Q: Are you noticing any trends in Canadian wedding dress customers?

A: One shift I’ve noticed is the increase in brides getting multiple wedding looks. In addition to their wedding dress, people are looking for second looks specifically for the reception. These are always a pleasure to design because it’s all about creating something that stands out from the ceremony and steps away from tradition. It’s usually a shorter dress that’s fun and easy to dance in and highlights the bride’s personality.

Q: What is the price range for your designs?

A: Our range is anywhere from $3,000 to $10,000-plus, depending on the type of service and design complexity. Mini-dresses are around $5,000, while full-length wedding dresses typically start at $8,000.
