MINSK, 20 August (BelTA) – President Min Aung Hlaing of Myanmar arrived in Belarus on official visit on 20 August, BelTA has learned.

The official visit of Min Aung Hlaing confirms Belarus’ active efforts to develop relations both directly with Myanmar and with the Southeast Asian region as a whole.

Upon landing, Myanmar’s president was greeted at the airport by Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister Viktor Karankevich, where the distinguished guest was welcomed at the plane’s steps with the traditional offering of bread and salt. After arriving in the capital, Min Aung Hlaing laid a wreath at the Victory Monument to pay tribute to those who died during the Great Patriotic War (1941-1945).

The main agenda for talks at the heads-of-state level is scheduled for Friday, 21 August. The presidents will discuss the current status and future prospects of bilateral cooperation, the key areas of which are outlined in the 2026–2028 roadmap. This primarily concerns cooperation in industry, agriculture, pharmaceuticals, science, and education. The heads of state will review concrete steps for the swift, practical implementation of previously set plans, as well as new mutually beneficial projects. Attention will also be paid to interaction between Minsk and Naypyidaw within international platforms.

Following the talks, the parties plan to sign documents aimed at strengthening Belarus–Myanmar trade, economic, scientific, technological, legal and other ties.
