MINSK, 21 August (BelTA) – President Min Aung Hlaing of Myanmar invited Belarusian observers to monitor the 2027 election campaign during the restricted meeting with Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko in Minsk on 21 August, BelTA has learned.
During the talks, the Belarusian head of state noted that recently Myanmar has passed a crucial stage in its development, ensuring political stability in the state: “The people provided very strong support to you and the forces behind you. You face the next difficult challenge – to help the people who believed in you and supported you in the recent elections. You can count on us in this regard as well. Everything we agree on, we will fulfill.”
Min Aung Hlaing expressed his gratitude to the Belarusian leader for these words and assured that he would continue to carry out democratic reforms in the country, guided by the interests of the Myanmar population. He pointed out that in 2027, by-elections to the national parliament and other legislative bodies will be conducted in those constituencies where elections were either not held or were canceled during the prior electoral campaign. “I would like to invite observers from your country [to the elections in 2027],” the president of Myanmar stated.
