Liza Soberano and H.E.R. are set to return to the Philippines as part of DreamWorks Animation’s promotion of “Forgotten Island” which opens in Philippine cinemas next month.

The two lead the film’s voice cast as Jo and Raissa, lifelong best friends whose final night together takes them to the fantastical island of Nakali.

Liza and H.E.R. will be joined in the Philippines by directors Januel Mercado and Joel Crawford and producer Mark Swift.

The Philippines will be the first international destination to welcome the cast and filmmakers for special events and screenings.

Their visit includes the “Tayo Na, Philippines!” “Forgotten Island” event at the SM Mall of Asia Main Atrium on August 25 at 7 p.m.

The Philippine visit also connects with the film’s Filipino influences. Mercado is Filipino American, while Crawford’s wife and family are Filipino.

Swift made several trips to the Philippines during the film’s development as the filmmakers worked on its Filipino-inspired world.

In “Forgotten Island”, Jo and Raissa discover a mysterious portal while celebrating their last night together before embarking on separate life paths. The portal transports them to Nakali, where they encounter magical and mythological creatures based on stories they grew up hearing from their Filipino families.

Among them are Raww, a well-meaning but hapless weredog voiced by Dave Franco and the Dreaded Manananggal, voiced by Lea Salonga.

The friends eventually learn that their memories of their friendship are the price for returning home. They must find a way off the island before they forget each other forever.

Crawford and Mercado wrote and directed the film, while Swift produced it. The three previously worked together on “Puss in Boots: The Last Wish”.

The voice cast also features Jenny Slate, Manny Jacinto, Dolly de Leon, Jo Koy and Ronny Chieng.

In June, BINI surprised fans at the kickoff of its Signals tour with the reveal of “A Parallel World,” a song connected to the animated film’s soundtrack.

“Forgotten Island” is distributed by Universal Pictures and arrives in Philippine cinemas on September 23.
