Manipulated photos using Mariah Deborah's images by a male individual as exposed by the singer on her Facebook on Aug. 18, 2026 (Aria Cabatbat via Facebook)Musical artist Mariah Deborah Cabatbat warned Filipinos about a man allegedly using her likeness to falsely claim that they have been in a relationship for two years.
The “Bahagya” singer on Tuesday, August 18, shared screengrabs of posts made by the man, who allegedly used her Instagram photos and AI to make them appear as though they had been together since 2024.
The photos included dates and details of time spent together, making it appear as though they were a couple.
The man also uploaded fabricated messages to make it appear as though they had been communicating with each other online.
“A MAN HAS BEEN USING MY LIKENESS WITHOUT MY CONSENT,” Mariah wrote on Facebook.
“Do not use living people to generate your delusions. Do not let AI make you more bold in taking away someone’s consent,” she added.
The singer shared that someone had reached out to her about the man and his manipulated photos, which made it appear as though they were in a relationship.
“He has been using photos I posted on Instagram, AI-generated images of us together, and fabricated conversations to make it look real,” Mariah said.
“I want to be clear: I do not know this man. I am not his girlfriend. None of this is real. I did not consent to any of it,” she added.
“Posting photos publicly does not mean giving someone permission to use my face to fabricate whatever agenda they want, especially one I never agreed to,” the singer continued.
“Women are not props for your fantasies. Our bodies are not yours to use however you want,” Mariah said.
Meanwhile, others who saw her post described the incident “creepy,” while some commented on how “scary” AI can be.
Others expressed shock at what they described as his level of “delusion” in portraying a relationship that did not exist.
The incident comes amid growing concerns over the misuse of AI to manipulate people’s images.
Earlier this month, a female deepfake victim in England called for better regulation of AI technology after her modeling photos were used to create sexually explicit images without her consent.
The images were created by her old college friend, who was later sentenced to three years in prison.
