Jason Engler sported a mysterious mark on his neck during Wednesday's episode of Married At First Sight.

But the program suffered an awkward editing fail as the mark on the left side of his neck disappeared seconds later.

As Jason, 35, discussed his split from 'wife' Alana Lister, a red splotch resembling a love bite was visible.

'I'm disappointed. It's just a bit upsetting because I didn't think we would end up like that,' he said. 

Jason is then shown looking outside the window as he discusses his relationship.

But just a few seconds later, he reemerges on the screen and the mysterious mark on his neck has disappeared. 

Despite the telling mark, Jason revealed he had actually broken up with 'wife' Alana Lister prior to the show's reunion dinner.

Alana, 30, explained that she was ready to break up with Jason at the final vows, but changed her mind after he told her he was in love with her.  

'I really tried to make our relationship work. I put in a lot of effort. I really tried my hardest, I really liked Jason,' she added. 

'But maybe, I think, two weeks later, Jason and I had an argument, and he just kind of refused to talk about it, refused to acknowledge it.'

Alana revealed Jason then 'dumped me via text message, which was really brutal', and said she 'deserved better'. 

'I feel a little bit betrayed. I gave so much of myself, more than, like, a text message. We were married and I feel like you at least deserve a phone call,' she added.

Meanwhile, Jason admitted he had regrets about how their relationship had ended, and wished it had 'worked out'.

Ahead of the reunion dinner, Jason confessed he was worried about seeing Alana again, and said she'd probably have a few choice words for him. 

While it's not known if Jason and Alana have since moved on with other people, he previously admitted to being a party boy before appearing on the show.
