CFMOTO’s burgeoning adventure-touring line-up grows with the new 800MT-ES, giving Australian riders yet another choice in this highly popular segment.

Almost a decade after the 650MT first gave CFMOTO a presence in the parallel-twin adventure-touring space, the Chinese brand’s local line-up has grown quickly. The 800MT family followed in 2022 across Sport and Touring variants, with the higher-spec Explore later joining the fold.

The CFMOTO 800MT range hit Aussie roads and trails in 2022

The 700MT then arrived as a lower-capacity, more road-oriented value proposition, powered by the 693 cc parallel-twin also used in CFMOTO’s 700CL and CL-X models. That engine did not carry the same KTM DNA as the 800MT models, but instead had some Kawasaki strands in its lineage.

More recently, the more dirt-capable 800MT-X expanded the family further, while May also brings the Australian arrival of the larger and more hard-core 1000MT-X.

The more hardcore CFMOTO 1000 MT-X also arrives next month, May 2026

For now, though, our focus here is on the MY26 800MT-ES. Its Australian arrival is also only weeks away and, as the model suffix suggests, the ES brings semi-active electronic suspension to CFMOTO’s middleweight adventure-touring platform.

Powered by a 799 cc parallel-twin based on the same KTM-derived powerplant as its 800MT siblings, the 800MT-ES produces 70 kW at 9250 rpm and 77 Nm at 6500 rpm. It runs a six-speed gearbox with a slipper clutch, while a two-way quick-shifter is fitted as standard.

CFMOTO has positioned the 800MT-ES as a high-spec offering for the money. At $18,490 Ride Away, it includes cruise control, multiple riding modes, heated grips, heated seat, Bosch electronic rider aids, tyre-pressure monitoring, a centre-stand, steering damper and an eight-inch colour TFT display.

The value equation is further strengthened by the standard full-alloy luggage package, comprising side panniers and a top box. For riders planning longer trips or simply wanting a commuter and weekender already equipped for touring duties, that is a significant inclusion at this price point.

The key addition on the ES is the KYB-sourced Intelligent Suspension System. The 41 mm USD fork and rear monoshock are electronically adjustable, with the system designed to adapt to terrain, load and riding conditions in real time. To help accommodate different touring loads, preload can be selected through four settings: single rider, two-up, rider plus luggage, or two-up with luggage. Speed-sensitive damping can also be adjusted through Comfort, Standard and Sport tunes.

Riding modes for power delivery, Cornering ABS and Cornering Traction Control are selectable through Sport, Rain, Off-Road and All-Terrain configurations, working in conjunction with a Bosch six-axis IMU. Wheelie Control and Drag Torque Control are also included.

The chassis uses a chrome-molybdenum steel trellis frame with the engine as a stressed member, matched to an aluminium double-sided swingarm.

Braking hardware is supplied by J.Juan, with four-piston radial front calipers clamping twin 320 mm discs, backed by a 260 mm rear disc. Bosch Cornering ABS is standard.

CFMOTO quotes a 231 kg kerb weight for the 800MT-ES, while the relatively low 825 mm seat height should make the machine approachable for a broad range of riders.

Fuel capacity is 19 litres, which should give the 800MT-ES a touring range comfortably in excess of 300 kilometres.

The 800MT-ES rolls on wire-spoke wheels, with a 19-inch front and 17-inch rear combination shod with Michelin Anakee Adventure tyres in 110/80 R19 and 150/70 R17 sizes.
