ASICLAND said August 14 that first-half revenue rose 273% from a year earlier to about 113.7 billion won. Operating profit was 5 billion won, marking a return to profitability. The company’s official English name is ASICLAND Co., Ltd.
Development revenue was 92.6 billion won, while mass-production revenue was 21.2 billion won. ASICLAND said increased mass-production volumes centered on memory controllers drove growth alongside higher development and production revenue.
ASICLAND previously handled development of a 28-nanometer NAND controller for D.AIO. Development began in 2023 and was completed in the second half of last year. As a member of Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co.’s (TSMC) Value Chain Alliance (VCA), ASICLAND performs design optimization for foundry processes, helping translate chip designs for manufacturing. Under the contract, the work leads to mass-production revenue. TSMC describes its VCA members as independent design-service companies that support customers across the semiconductor value chain.
The mass-production contract for D.AIO’s NAND controller secured early this year is valued at about 25.4 billion won, equivalent to 27.04% of ASICLAND’s revenue in the previous year. Revenue is recognized according to the product supply schedule. About 6.381 billion won was recognized in the first half under the contract, with the remainder to be paid in the second half.
Lee Jong-min, chief executive officer (CEO) of ASICLAND, said the company would expand high-value projects and follow-on mass-production programs in Korea and overseas, focusing on memory and other areas, to strengthen the foundation for sustainable growth.
