A short video posted by a Jacksonville news station packs a surprising amount of drama into just 51 seconds — all courtesy of a black 2026 Corvette and a driver who thought 130 miles an hour on a rural Florida road was a good idea.

The bodycam footage, recorded July 14, opens with a St. Johns County deputy approaching the Corvette on County Road 13 near Joe Ashton Road. The driver already has his license out, but the deputy doesn’t waste a second letting him know exactly how he feels.

“The hell are we doing? 130 miles an hour? Seriously? Seriously?”

The driver, suddenly very polite, hands over his license and asks if he can grab his insurance card.

The deputy shuts that down immediately.

“No, get out.”

The next shot shows the driver’s arms behind his back as he’s handcuffed, the sleek black coupe sitting quietly in the background. Moments later, he’s climbing into the back seat of the patrol car while the deputy explains what happens when you push a Corvette past triple digits in a 45 mph zone.

Because he was going more than 50 mph over the limit, the deputy tells him, the charge qualifies as a super-speeder — and that means an arrest.

The deputy sums it up with a final shake of the head.

“130 on a 45 mile an hour road? Ridiculous. Ridiculous.”

A fast car can make anyone feel invincible. But as this Florida driver learned, there’s a big difference between owning a Corvette — and driving one like you’re on a racetrack.
