I am an animal ecologist and conservation scientist, currently an Associate Professor in the School of Ecology at Sun Yat-sen University (Shenzhen, China). My work integrates field surveys, quantitative modelling, large-scale data synthesis, and socioeconomic surveys to understand diversity patterns and address conservation challenges in rapidly changing ecosystems. I have been particularly interested in how abiotic and biotic interactions shape species’ ranges across space and time, with a central focus on elevational gradients in subtropical mountains. I also seek to understand the effects of human-induced threats on biodiversity and to evaluate approaches that enhance biodiversity benefits, in order to inform evidence-based conservation and policy-relevant solutions. My study systems mostly involve elevational migrations in mountains and long-distance migrants crossing national boundaries.
