The latest addition to the Origin Effects line-up brings the legendary Pultec EQ into pedal format. Based on the EQP-1A, the new EQDeluxe promises to deliver huge-sounding low end and “retro studio charm”, and as you might expect, has been optimised to work with guitar and bass signals. 

Origin Effects say that the new arrival precisely replicates the behaviour of the EQP-1A, with independent cut and boost controls on the low-frequency band making it possible to create the unique curves for which the original design is renowned; the band can be set to 20, 30 or 60 Hz. An inductor-based mid band makes it possible to boost a range of carefully chosen midrange frequencies (0.8, 1.2, 1.6, 2.4, 3.6 and 5 kHz), while a high-frequency cut band offers a shelving cut at 5, 10 or 20 kHz. The pedal also includes a solid-state recreation of the valve-based push-pull output stage of the EQP-1A, adding some subtle saturation that contributes to the unit’s vintage sound.
