Paytm has launched a new Split Bills feature that allows users to record, split and settle shared expenses directly within the Paytm app. Announced ahead of Friendship Day, the feature is designed to simplify expense management for trips, dining, shopping, entertainment and other group activities.

The feature supports multiple bill-splitting methods, tracks pending balances and enables settlements through Paytm UPI while also recording payments made via cash, cards and other UPI apps.

With Split Bills, users can create a group and add unlimited shared expenses without any entry limits or additional charges.

Each expense can be divided using one of several methods:

• Equal split
• Exact amount
• Percentage-based split
• Share-based split

This gives groups the flexibility to divide expenses according to their preferred arrangement.

Paytm provides a detailed expense summary that includes:

• Total amount spent
• Individual member’s share
• Pending balances
• Recent activity
• Amount to pay or receive

Users can also send payment reminders directly from the app to group members with outstanding balances.

The feature is not limited to Paytm payments.

Users can record expenses paid through:

• Paytm UPI
• Other UPI apps
• Debit and credit cards
• Cash
• Other payment methods

Payments settled outside the app can also be marked as completed, ensuring the group’s expense history remains accurate.

When it’s time to settle a bill, Paytm automatically fills in the recipient details and payment amount through Paytm UPI, making the repayment process quicker.

To access the feature:

1. Open the Paytm app.
2. Go to Pay Anyone.
3. Select Split Bills.
4. Create a new group or choose an existing one.
5. Add participants and enter a group name.
6. Select a category such as Trip, Home, Couple, or Others.
7. Add expenses, choose who paid, and select the preferred bill-splitting method.
8. Review balances and settle payments when ready.

The new Split Bills feature joins several other financial management tools already available in the Paytm app, including:

• Spend Summary
• Download UPI Statement
• Home screen widgets
• Gold Coins rewards

The company also introduced the Hide Payments feature last year, allowing users to move selected transactions into a protected section for additional privacy.
