UPDATE: As of 1:00 p.m., approximately an inch of rain has fallen in Columbia after heavy showers have continued in the city. Sanborn Field on the University of Missouri Campus is reporting 1.02". The Columbia Regional Airport is reporting 1.28"

Showers from Thursday night through this morning have brought steady light to moderate, if not at times heavy, rainfall to some in the lake region. More rain and even thunderstorms are anticipated, and if heavier downpours continue to train through areas like Columbia, flash flooding could be a slight concern.

As of this afternoon, the rain has continued to impact areas like Jefferson City, Ashland, Columbia, Fayette, and nearby areas. Rain may have reached as far north as Moberly, Centralia, Mexico, and Fulton, but little to no rain has been reported in these locations as of 1:00 p.m.

Rain totals from the last 24 hours are estimated from radar at up to almost 2" in Camden County, with totals near or over an inch in Columbia, Eldon, California, and Jefferson City.

Rain is expected to gradually taper throughout the afternoon hours, with another chance for isolated to scattered thunderstorms this evening, leaving showers lingering into the overnight. More measurable rain is likely, but for many, the bulk of the rain has been falling for the past couple of hours.

Areas that haven't seen much rain so far in the northeast will have a better chance of showers and storms the rest of the day.
