Three ganja-peddlers operating with three cars and a high-end motorcycle were arrested on Saturday (July 25) by a team of the Coimbatore city police for allegedly supplying the contraband to IT employees, students and labourers in Saravanampatti-Kalapatti belt.

The team, attached to the Prohibition Enforcement Wing, also recovered 4 kg ganja from Gowtham (25) of Ganapathy, Rahul Kumar (25) of Avaramapalayam, and Dinesh Kumar (26) of kurumpampalayam, police said. The accused were booked under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The police seized the vehicles.

Commissioner of Police N. Kannan said the bank accounts of the three accused would be frozen and that stringent action would be taken against those indulging in such activities.
