Newcastle United are one of a number of Premier League clubs who admire Norwich City right-back Kellen Fisher.

The England under-21 international made 47 appearances across all competitions last season and can play as a left-back, too, making him an appealing option for a club like Newcastle who need a versatile full-back.

However, TeamTalk claim Norwich have made it clear they have no intention of selling the 22-year-old, who still has two years on his contract at Carrow Road, this summer.

Everton, Leeds and Brentford have also been credited with an interest in Fisher, who joined the Canaries from Bromley three years ago.

Former Everton chief executive Keith Wyness, who now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs, believes that Newcastle's transfer window is about to 'heat up'. The ex-Toffees chief reckons with the end of the World Cup we are now amid a busy time in the window.

"Newcastle have got some serious issues right now. They've got to bring in some marquee players. They know it," Wyness told Football Insider.

"They've lost some of their talismen and this is really another difficult window for Newcastle. Now the World Cup's finished though, I do expect their window to heat up considerably.

"I think this week could be one of the busiest weeks of the transfer window. Maybe not in actual announcements but in terms of the work being done behind the scenes because that's how it works.

"It'll take a lot of work before an announcement actually happens, but I do expect a lot to have happened over the weekend and this week as well with the World Cup now completed."

Newcastle United have not hesitated in sending another clear transfer message to one of their Premier League rivals in their latest Adidas kit launch.

Reports that Lewis Hall had been involved in a bust-up with Eddie Howe that emerged last month were instantly dismissed to Chronicle Live after high-placed sources denied any unsavoury exchanges - as were links to Manchester United.

As Newcastle start to build a new younger squad with Sean Steur, Ewen Jaouen, Bazoumana Toure and Aladji Bamba all through the door, but United chiefs have also made it clear that no further sales are required.

As things stand, with the club's SCR situation assessed by the powers that be, Newcastle have told Howe they are under no pressure to make another big sale according to well-placed sources who have spoken to Chronicle Live.

Fringe players could still be sold, but the plan with six weeks left of the current trading period is to hold on to star names like Hall and Bruno.

Of course, if Newcastle get any bid for a player that blows the board out of the water, it would be carefully considered but cash would also be reinvested into the squad.

For now though Newcastle have not had any real bids for their stars and they are getting irked by constant gossip at the Arsenal end of the Gunners readying offers for Bruno.

The Magpies want to bring more new signings to the club before deadline day on September 1 in what is set to be a crucial period on Tyneside.

Newcastle had previously been linked with FC Koln winger Said El Mala this summer but it appears Borussia Dortmund now lead the race for his signature.

Sky Sports in Germany report Dortmund made an offer of a €26m fixed fee, plus €8m in easily achievable bonuses and €8m in difficult-to-achieve add-ons.

Newcastle United new boy Aladji Bamba has revealed his delight after signing for the Magpies in a £34million switch from Monaco, penning a five-year deal at St James' Park.

The defensive midfielder will be handed the chance to impress in the first-team instantly by head coach Eddie Howe. Speaking after completing his move from the French club, Bamba said: “I’m very happy to be here – it’s a new challenge and I can’t wait to get started. I was very excited when I heard Newcastle were interested in signing me.

Previously in the window, Newcastle were linked with a move for Feyenoord winger Anis Hadj Moussa however it now seems Sporting CP are frontrunners to secure his signature.

The club badge, worn by stars like Keegan, Peter Beardsley and Chris Waddle, in the 1984 promotion winning team, sits alongside the Adidas trefoil logo.

Newcastle United will splash out an initial £30million on Aladji Bamba after making the star their fourth summer signing at St James' Park.

The 20-year-old will arrive on Tyneside with just 25 senior appearances for Monaco under his belt and could eventually trigger a further £5.5m in add ons to his original fee.

With Aladji Bamba's arrival expected to be officially confirmed imminently, Newcastle still need to fill a couple of gaping holes in the squad ahead of the Premier League opener against Liverpool in just over four weeks' time.

The first of which is at full-back where Tino Livramento and Lewis Hall remain the only two senior options in the squad. Teenager Leo Shahar is expected to get a run of games in pre-season but a new full-back will absolutely be on the agenda for sporting director Ross Wilson.

Newcastle United sources have dismissed talk of the Magpies selling Bruno Guimaraes for a fee of £70m as a 'non-starter'.

ChronicleLive understands that Newcastle are growing tired of the so-called third parties trying to unsettle their club captain, with the situation now rumbling on for six weeks.

Well-placed sources on Tyneside say that Arsenal's chances of getting Bruno for close to £70m are a 'non-starter'.

The Magpies are on the brink of signing Aladji Bamba from Monaco, but it is not thought that he is a replacement for Bruno and Newcastle's stance on the Carabao Cup-winning skipper remains the same.

We have been told that Arsenal are STILL to contact Newcastle, let alone put a bid in for the South American amid talk from the capital that the Gunners are readying a £70m bid.

Bruno nor his agency have put in an official transfer request and he remains under contract for at least two more years with Newcastle, expecting the ex-Lyon star to report back for pre-season training in time for their boot camp in La Manga.

It is the next seven days where things could become tricky for the player and the club, though, if Bruno decides to go down the same path as Alexander Isak.

Newcastle United have stuck to their guns with Bruno Guimaraes - after an advert for the club's new away shirt got the green light to keep their club captain firmly in the picture.

With fresh reports from the capital suggesting that Bruno will be the subject of a £70m bid from Arsenal, Toon chiefs did not hesitate when keeping the Brazil international in the Adidas advert for the launch of the new kit.

This is understood to have been a considered decision from the club and one that says out loud that Newcastle mean it when they say they don't want to sell the South American.

Chronicle Live has been told that even if Arsenal do bid £70m for Guimaraes, the offer will be deemed paltry and will be rejected.

Newcastle United’s men’s, women’s and Under-21s teams will wear black armbands across all pre-season matches this summer as the club honours the life of Kevin Keegan.

A minute's silence will be held before kick-off when Eddie Howe’s side travel to Gateshead this Saturday, as well as this weekend’s Academy fixtures.

The club can also outline additional tributes at Bristol City next week and during the Visit Malta Weekender friendlies in August, as well as planning for a poignant Premier League fixture against Liverpool, where Kevin also holds legendary status.

The club will consult with Kevin's family at the appropriate time before communicating further with supporters on any plans for a permanent tribute.

Saturday’s pre-season friendly at the Gateshead International Stadium marks the first match since Kevin’s passing earlier this week. Ahead of kick-off, both teams will observe a minute's silence in his memory, and players on both sides will wear black armbands throughout the match as a mark of respect for a man revered on Tyneside.

Bristol City (a)

The Magpies’ men’s first team will travel to Ashton Gate on Wednesday 29th July to take on Bristol City – the opponents when Kevin first stepped into the dugout as Newcastle United manager in February 1992.

Kevin’s image will be shown on stadium screens in the 7th minute – a nod to the number he wore with such distinction during his playing career – and supporters are invited to mark this with a minute's applause in his honour.

Visit Malta Weekender

Newcastle United’s first matches back at St. James’ Park will be the Visit Malta Weekender against Bayer Leverkusen and Strasbourg on Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th August respectively, with Newcastle United Women taking on Inter Milan at 1pm on Sunday. To give home supporters the opportunity to pay tribute where Kevin inspired so many memories, Kevin’s image will again be shown on stadium screens in the 7th minute of each fixture.

The opening Premier League match of the 2026/27 sees Newcastle United hosting Liverpool – where Kevin made 323 appearances between 1971 and 1977.

To ensure his memory is marked fittingly before the game, the club is in communication with Liverpool and will work closely with supporter groups, including its Fan Advisory Board, the Newcastle United Supporters Trust and Wor Flags, as well as the Premier League, to shape tributes.

Noah Atubolu of Freiburg hasn’t been approached by Magpies despite suggestions online. After it was confirmed Newcastle had cooled interest in James Trafford with no bids this summer, the goalkeeper department still being looked at. Nick Pope training well ahead of new season and Eddie Howe happy with his pre-season so far.

Newcastle United would be an ideal next destination for Manchester United midfielder Mason Mount.

That is the view of the Red Devils' former assistant manager Rene Meulensteen who believes the England international will be reduced to a bit-part role this season.

"Mason Mount to Newcastle could be a good move because If Mount stays, he would only be a bit-part player," Meulensteen told Andy's Bet Club.

"Even if he stays at Manchester United and stays fit, it is hard to see Michael Carrick not starting Matheus Cunha or Bryan Mbeumo. You need a squad for many games, so he would get picked at some point.

"Mason Mount is at a point in his career where he wants to play as much as possible. If he leaves, United would need to find backup for the left side."

Earlier in the summer it was reported that Newcastle had been offered the chance to sign Bayer Leverkusen winger Kerim Alajbegovic.

However, the Telegraph report that Chelsea are now the favourites to sign the £30million rated 18-year-old who shone for Bosnia and Herzegovina at the recent World Cup.

Blues boss Xabi Alonso was at Leverkusen when Alajbegovic was coming through the ranks and he recently rejoined the club when they activated a buyback clause after he impressed at RB Salzburg last season after joining the Austrian side last summer.

Alajbegovic scored 13 goals for Salzburg and also scored in Bosnia's World Cup win over Qatar.

Newcastle United are closing in on the signing of Monaco midfielder Aladji Bamba, with the 20-year-old set to become the fourth first team signing at St James' Park this summer.

The France youth international has jetted into Tyneside on Thursday to conduct his medical and undergo the final formalities of the deal before putting pen to paper on his move to Newcastle.

High on potential, but low on experience has been the theme of Newcastle's summer business so far with Bamba joining Ewen Jaouen, Bazoumana Toure and fellow midfielder Sean Steur at the club, with all four players 20 years of age or under.

With that in mind, very few Newcastle fans would have seen much of Bamba - particularly given he only broke into the Monaco team at the start of last season. So who are Newcastle signing?

It was Adi Hutter, Monaco's manager at the start of the 2025/26 season, who showed faith in Bamba by handing him his debut in a win over Auxerre in September.

Having come through the youth system at Blois, he joined Monaco's academy in 2021 and has progressed through the youth levels at both club and international level, gaining experience in the UEFA Youth League and Premier League International Cup, and winning the Maurice Revello Tournament with France's under-20s last summer.

A midfielder, who can play as a six or an eight, Hutter handed him his chance as a teenager and he repaid the faith of the Austrian coach.

"I’d like to compliment Aladji, who, at only 19 years old, was starting for the first time in his Ligue 1 career," Hutter said after the game.

"He played like someone with great experience, so I’m happy with his performance. I’d also like to congratulate the Academy and the Elite Group who help prepare young players for the professional team."

According to the Athletic, Leeds United are in talks to sign Manchester City goalkeeper James Trafford and he is leaning towards a move to Elland Road.

Newcastle tried to sign Trafford last summer before he returned to City and he remains a player of interest to the Magpies.

But United have been sourcing other goalkeeping options and Chronicle Live reported yesterday that Newcastle had not followed up on their interest in Trafford and the 23-year-old's name has not been brought up in discussions on targets this week, according to well-placed sources at St James' Park.

Bamba will be the fourth player aged 20 and under to make the move to Tyneside this summer following the arrivals of goalkeeper Ewen Jaouen from Stade Reims, Bazoumana Toure from Hoffenheim and fellow midfielder Sean Steur from Ajax.

The France under-20 international broke into Monaco's first team last season and made 25 appearances across Ligue 1, the Coupe de France and the Champions League.

Prior to that, he was playing in Monaco's youth team and has experience in the UEFA Youth League and the Premier League International Cup.

United had been linked with another Monaco midfielder, Senegal international Lamine Camara, but have opted to turn their attention towards Bamba instead.

Bamba largely plays as a number six and would add to Newcastle's midfield options after the departure of Sandro Tonali To Tottenham Hotspur earlier this summer.
