Alabama Crimson Tide head coach Kalen DeBoer did not mince words when he was asked about the domination of the Big 10 Conference over college football in the last few years.

Though it may not be what fans want to hear, it’s tough to argue with the logic that the conference winning titles is the top dog right now.

While the SEC has always fancied itself the strongest conference in college football, the Big 10 has had something to say as of late with three straight national titles between Indiana, Ohio State and Michigan during what has been a drought in the South.

DeBoer spoke about the phenomenon during an interview with “The Next Round” and told it how it is when it comes to winning national titles.

Alabama Coach Kalen DeBoer on if the Big Ten is now the best conference in college sports:

“Perception is reality, right?” DeBoer said when asked whether or not the Big 10 being the best is reality or simply just a talking point. “From the standpoint of who’s winning national championships and the expectation of the SEC as a whole being winning championships, that’s real, how am I gonna argue that?”

DeBoer did take things a step further, talking about how competitive the SEC is from top to bottom, something he has found out over his first two seasons at Alabama.

“I think the conference is in a very strong spot when you look top to bottom how competitive it is, I’ve experienced that for two years,” he continued. “We’ve gotta have those teams that can kinda get through the playoffs and win a championship which we obviously have not done. That’s a challenge for us at Alabama and a challenge for the SEC.”

Whether DeBoer can change the narrative remains to be seen, but it’s safe to say fans across the South are sick of hearing about the domination of the Big 10 Conference.
