Walker County families are invited to attend Walker County Kids Day on Thursday, July 30, from 1-5 p.m. at Saddle Ridge Elementary/Middle School, 9858 U.S. Highway 27 in Rock Spring. The free community event is designed to help students start the school year healthy, prepared and ready to succeed.

Hosted through a partnership between Walker County Family Connection, Walker County Schools and Primary Healthcare Centers, Walker County Kids Day brings together education, healthcare and community organizations to provide essential services and resources to local families.

During the event, families will have access to:

- Free school supplies;
- Free backpacks (while supplies last);
- Vision, hearing and dental screenings;
- Immunizations;
- Free children's activities; and
- Community resources and information from local organizations.

"Walker County Kids Day is more than a back-to-school event - it's an opportunity for our community to come together to ensure every child begins the school year with the tools and support they need to be successful," said Laura Beth Newsom, coordinator of Walker County Family Connection.

"By connecting families with school supplies, healthcare services and community resources in one location, we are helping remove barriers to student success while strengthening families across Walker County."

The event is free and open to Walker County families. School supplies, backpacks and other free items will be distributed while supplies last.
