"We never talked about this again because it would mean I have a loose screw."View Entire Post ›
I love, love, LOVEEEEEE a good spooky story, and apparently so do y'all. 🫣
What really gets me going is a mind-bending paranormal encounter. Murderers and menaces at least have logical explanations. The supernatural, on the other hand, has a terrible habit of ignoring things like logic, physics, and common courtesy.
If you like questioning reality while giving yourself the heebie jeebies, then these stories are right up your alley:

"We were on a family trip to the beach, and someone suggested visiting the old town. I got separated from everyone and had no idea what to do. I was just a kid. A stranger found me. He never touched me or tried to lead me anywhere. He just stayed calm, reassured me, and walked beside me. We ended up walking together for about 15 minutes, and somehow he led me straight back to my family. I told my parents all about the man, but years later, they told me something that still confuses me. According to them, I walked back completely alone. They said there was nobody with me. The strange part is that I didn't know that town at all. There's no way I could have known exactly where to go, yet I ended up in the exact spot with my family."

"I was walking with a friend at night. We had to cross a bridge that had a swamp under it. While crossing that bridge, I heard a weird noise coming from beneath it. Since my white ass was curious, I stopped and listened. It sounded like whatever was under there was trying to talk to me. It did NOT sound human or animal, though. It made a lot of weird grunting noises that sounded like a fox or coyote trying to copy a human voice. It sounded as if it were rambling nonsense, trying to make sense. I was curious, so I yelled, 'Is anyone there?' and was met with the most HORRIFIC screech I have ever heard."

"My friend lived in Phoenix and said he and some friends would sometimes drive out to the desert to hang out and have a few beers. Often, they'd have a little bonfire going. One night, this lady just walked out of the desert darkness and joined them. He said for some reason he wouldn't look at her directly. Something told him not to, like a gut feeling. He said their boisterous vibe toned way down as she meandered here and there among them before she simply walked back out into the dark. All of a sudden, they all just knew they should go and go now. They put out the fire and peeled out of there. He said what was strange was the strong feeling that he should avoid looking at her, that later no one wanted to talk about it, and that a couple of the guys insisted they didn't see any woman."

"I went camping with my dad and a close friend. At the campsite, you could walk to the edge of a ravine. You could see this from the campsite, about a three-minute walk! We went there around 9 a.m. and were there for about five minutes. When we walked back, it was suddenly dark, and park rangers were looking for us. Our phones still said it was 9 a.m., and we watched the time flip over to 7 p.m. when we showed the rangers. They apparently searched the area, and we were missing for hours."

"I received a phone call on my mobile from my mom. She was very scared, speaking in a low voice, telling me they were being robbed; someone had entered the house, and she and my dad were upstairs. I could hear my dad trying to calm her down, and he eventually grabbed the phone and told me something like, 'Call the police,' then hung up. I called my brother, who lives closer to them, and told him, "Someone just broke into Mom and Dad's. I'm calling the police. Get over there.' He said 'Ok,' and we hung up. Then I called the police, and my brother called me mid-call. I answered, and he told me he had just phoned Mom and they were fine at home. Nothing was happening; they were just chilling there. There was no robbery, no call, nothing. We never talked about this again because it would mean I have a loose screw. But the phone call was still in my phone."

"This was back when I was about nine, and no one really believed me. I had a vision of sorts where I saw my great-grandmother, my grandfather, and my grandmother all just standing there. Cold, dark — it was weird. I woke up not really thinking about it... Then, in the next three years, on the same day, each of them died. It gave me chills..."

"My grandmother had end-stage cancer and had a seizure, so we rushed her to the ER. We later transferred her to the normal hospital room, and my mother recalled having an ominous feeling about the room. She asked if they could change the room for her, but they could not. Both my mom and her brother said that 10 minutes into the room, my grandmother suddenly sat upright and looked at them both with hateful eyes and spoke to them angrily in a different language they could not understand, but it clearly sounded like legit language. It looked as if she was possessed, and they tried to talk to her and shake her out of it, but they couldn’t do anything. After about half an hour, she dropped back into bed, went into a coma, and passed away the following day. We later found out that a Khmer patient died in the room earlier that morning..."

"I was walking home when I heard someone call my name. I stopped and turned around to see nobody behind me. A large tree branch suddenly fell and would have hit me if I had continued to walk."

"When I was around 35, I was up at night after an evening shift, watching a movie, when my dogs both positioned themselves to look at the basement stairs and were completely focused on them. I was like wtf? Like five minutes later, I heard a deep masculine voice say 'Mother,' and they both went apeshit. I went straight to bed."

"I woke up around 3 a.m. to my dog sitting in the hallway, staring into the dark as if something were there. The weird part was that the kitchen radio was crackling. I turned it off, stood there for a second, and then heard three slow knocks from inside the wall. Never heard anything like it again, but I still don't like that hallway."

"I was dog-sitting for a good friend because they had a sudden night shift. Their cat pretty much lived upstairs and was a bit of a chonker, so it was easy to hear her jump off the bed and make noise. Given all the noise upstairs, she seemed restless, but I didn’t think much of it. My friend got home around 2 a.m., and I joked that Rosie (the cat, obviously) was so busy upstairs making a din. My friend then looked me dead in the eye and said, 'Rosie died last week…' Made the hair on my neck go up. That whole house was haunted to fuck, and we were used to things being moved, etc., although this was the first time I’d been alone there when it happened. Anyway, RIP Rosie, you fat ghost."

"I lived alone at the time. I woke up one morning to find every single possible door, cupboard, or drawer in my entire house open. Anything that could be opened was open. I had the door locked from the inside, and I lived on the top floor. To this day, I have absolutely no idea how that happened."

"I had a very serious spinal injury that was getting worse. It was from a childhood collarbone injury that somehow went unnoticed. I was prior military and always felt very secure and safe in my own space. Even so, I always made sure doors and windows were locked. One night, I went to bed, in pain, with my head resting face down on the bottom right corner of my pillow. So my head was about a foot from the headboard. I was almost asleep and not moving at all when I suddenly heard a thick-sounding ripping noise from right above the center of my back. With no time to react, a stiff, metal-feeling object grabbed me by the back of my neck, forcing my head up against the headboard. As quickly as it appeared, it vanished even faster. I tried to get up but couldn’t move. And literally felt drugged and passed out. When I woke up hours later, my head was still pressed up against the headboard and cocked slanted."

"When I was two or three, my parents and their friends decided to use an Ouija board to contact one of the friends' dead mothers. I was coloring in another room when they finished, and my mum came to check on me. I had written the mother's name over and over again in my coloring book. I couldn't really write yet, and even if I could, I didn't know the woman's name. It gave my mum the creeps."

"Back during the pandemic, my mother was diagnosed with a very aggressive form of breast cancer. By the time they found it, it was already far too late, as it had spread to her bones. Because of the lockdown at the time, I was unable to see her to say goodbye as she was all the way across the country. My brother called me because he lived nearby and told me he would hold the phone up to her ear so that she could hear us say goodbye and talk one last time. I put it on speakerphone, and my wife at the time, along with my three kids, took turns saying goodbye to her. However, when we would speak to her, she didn't sound sick at all. I remember my little one talking to her about random things since he was far too young to comprehend what was going on, saying things like 'I have apple juice' and 'Look at this toy, big mama.'"
"Each time we spoke to her, she responded. She was laughing and saying things like, 'Oh, is the apple juice good?' And I was so confused that she was so close to death. After we said our goodbyes, she told us she loved us and would talk to us later."
"About 12 hours later, I got a call from my brother telling me she had passed away peacefully. I was so shocked, and I exclaimed to him that she sounded fine on the phone. How could this happen so fast? He went silent for a few seconds and asked me what I meant. I explained how she sounded like her normal self (before she was sick) on the phone. He sounded shocked when he told me that she was completely unconscious when I was speaking to her — he was holding up the phone to her, but she was not responding."
