Daniel Ingham killed during TT qualifying as Sidecar class suspended

The 2026 Isle of Man TT is in mourning following the death of Daniel Ingham during Wednesday qualifying, while organisers have also suspended the Sidecar class for the remainder of this year’s event after a separate serious incident.

Isle of Man TT organisers have confirmed that Daniel Ingham, 33, from Melton Mowbray, was killed during qualifying on Wednesday evening, May 27.

The incident occurred at Doran’s Bend on the first lap of the third qualifying session.

Ingham was an experienced Mountain Course competitor, having first raced on the Isle of Man in the 2016 Manx Grand Prix before later graduating to the TT. Over the course of a decade competing on the Mountain Course he had achieved a number of podium finishes, with his standout result coming in the 2024 Senior Manx Grand Prix, where he took victory.

Sidecar class suspended for TT 2026

TT organisers have also confirmed that the Sidecar class has been suspended for the remainder of the 2026 Isle of Man TT.

The decision followed an immediate technical and operational review after a serious incident involving a Sidecar team during Wednesday’s third qualifying session. The incident is understood to have involved brothers Ryan and Callum Crowe, whose outfit flipped at speed after crossing the Crosby Leap section.

Organisers said the review was undertaken in conjunction with the Event Promoter and that the decision to suspend the class was made as a precautionary measure in the interests of competitor and spectator safety.

All Sidecar competitors and teams involved in this year’s event have been briefed by Race Officials on the outcome of the initial review and the next stages of the assessment process.

The Sidecar class has a long history at the TT, and organisers acknowledged the commitment of the competitors, teams and supporters involved. However, they said the safety of competitors, spectators, marshals, officials and all those involved in the event must remain the priority.
