Ireland Baldwin branded family members 'poisonous' and 'narcissistic' as she reflected on lessons learned ahead of her 30th birthday in a poignant post.

Ahead of her milestone birthday, Ireland looked back on her 20s in a Substack entry entitled '30, Flirty and Surviving' - which contained the telling subhead, 'Turning 30, reflecting, and dodging my family of narcissists.'

In the piece, the daughter of Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger said she has relinquished the weight of her 'narcissistic, unreliable, addict family members'.

'I move into 30 with a lot less weight on my shoulders. This weight that was brought on by the need to continue to carry my narcissistic, unreliable, addict family members who I thought I needed in my life,' the post stated, without naming the specific people. 

'I grew up without two parents in my home and no siblings to turn to. I had a lonely childhood at times which is why I grew up feeling like I needed to win over certain people in my own family.'

Ireland said the realization of their toxicity was a liberating experience. 

'For whatever reason, their validation and praise was meaningful to me. Nothing was more freeing than finally realizing how poisonous these people are. So I inch into my thirties with an understanding that this is how you break these cycles. 

'My daughter doesn’t have to know these people and I can protect her from them. I can do my very best to construct my own idea of a family, piece by piece. And show how a real family treats one another.'

Ireland, whose parents are Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger, did not reveal who the specific family members were. 

She has, however, had a publicly strained relationship with her father after he infamously left her a voice message calling her a 'thoughtless little pig' when she was just 11-years-old - a relationship which has since improved. 

The Substack entry indicated she would be shielding her two-year-old daughter Holland from the 'poisonous' family members, and she has introduced her child to her parents, suggesting she wasn't referring to her mother and father in the post. 

The Daily Mail has reached out to representatives for Alec, Ireland, and Kim for comment but did not immediately hear back. 

Ireland's parents split in 2002 after nine years of marriage and her father has since remarried and welcomed seven more children with wife Hilaria Baldwin. Kim, meanwhile, has been dating boyfriend Mitch Stone for 11 years. 

In 2007, when Ireland was only 11, Alec left her a scathing message in which he branded her a 'rude, thoughtless little pig' after she missed a phone call from him that she had known was coming.

The notorious 2007 voicemail from Alec came in the wake of his bitter divorce and custody battle with Ireland's mother.

Kim denied leaking the recording and her representative said in a statement that 'the voicemail was not sealed under a court order.'

Ireland has learned to laugh at the incident, as in a 2015 Instagram photo she posted of her and Alec reading a children's book called If I Were A Pig.

'If I Were A Pig... I would be Rude and Thoughtless of course!' captioned Ireland, adding a snout emoji for good measure. 

During a Spike roast of her father in 2017, Ireland once again ribbed him about the voicemail, saying she and Alec 'are in a much better place now. He would never say something like that - because I'm 6'2" and I would kick his a**.'

Alec's infamous voice message recently resurfaced after Ireland excluded him from a Father's Day post, which featured her partner RAC and his father Arménio Anjos.

Ireland and RAC share daughter Holland and they now live in Oregon.
