SpiritVale is finally out on early access, and it offers a host of different classes to try out. Just like we saw in the demo, classes can be divided into base and advanced options. In this guide, I have solely focused on the base classes.
While you can pick any class you want to start your adventure, some classes definitely appear to be better.
Complete SpiritVale class tier list
There are seven different classes available for you to choose from. To separate them, I have opted for three different tiers.
- S-tier choices are the best options available in the early access version.
- A-tier choices are decent choices, but you’ll have to put some extra effort to master them.
- B-tier choices will take plenty of efforts from you to master them.

S-tier
- Warrior: Going aggro in SpiritVale has incredibly value because it’s simple, and it gets the job done. Warrior is the best class to use if this is how you want to play the game. You’ll dish out plenty of damage with your melee weapons, and there’s scope to clear mobs simultaneously. However, the downside is very little since you can jump in and come out from most fights unscathed.
- Summoner: Despite all the nerfs it received back in the days of the demo, the Summoner is extremely overpowered. If you don’t have friends to play with, this is arguably the best class to use. You can simply remain in the backline and let your summons do the dirty work. They also allow you to come out of tricky situations as the enemy remains distracted. Once you unlock Necromancer, your potential only rises further, as you can now raise hordes of undead.

A-tier
- Mage: Despite few obvious weaknesses, the Mage is an extremely well-balanced class. It has a range of options when it comes to AoE, so you’ll rarely get overwhelmed with enemies. I also love how quickly you can clear hordes of enemies, and the progression speed feels decent. However, you’ll need to keep distance else you’ll frequently get killed.
- Knight: The Knight doesn’t feel as powerful as the Warrior, but it’s a fun one to use. If I have to compare between the two (Warrior), Knight suits those who love balanced gameplay. It has a bit of everything that you’ll need as a beginner. The Paladin advanced class is also a really useful option to get in the late game.
- Rogue: In the right hands, Rogue is an S-tier class. It has amazing damage potentials and great enemy-clearing potential. However, you’ll have to master the art of dodges because taking hits will end your life quicker than you can imagine. I strongly advise against trying this class if you’re a beginner to the game.
B-tier
- Scout: I am unsure why the Scout is so fragile. Sure, you don’t expect a ranged attacker to behave like a tank. However, the Scout never gives you any scope for a single mistake, and you can at most take a few hits. The base damage is pretty low, and it only scales up once you have sufficiently levelled-up. If you really want to go the ranged route, pick the Mage.
- Acolyte: As essential as this class is, the Acolyte isn’t meant for everyone. This is the only support class that comes with the ability to provide heals. However, you’ll be wasting potential if you don’t have buddies to play with in a group.
