Nicolas Jackson continued Chelsea's bizarre penalty row after full-time of their 6-0 win over Everton as he was spotted arguing with Moises Caicedo.

Mauricio Pochettino's side thrashed the struggling Toffees following an impressive display, but an embarrassing on-field argument over who should take a spot-kick overshadowed the win.

After Jackson and Noni Madueke debated who should take the 64th-minute penalty when the score was 4-0, Cole Palmer eventually had to pull rank and take the kick himself.

Pochettino was left incensed post-game, insisting the situation was 'unacceptable' and 'so sad', before he confirmed that four-goal hero Palmer was Chelsea's designated taker.

However, following the final whistle, Caicedo - who along with Conor Gallagher, helped to cool the initial situation - was spotted in a heated discussion with a livid Jackson.

The pair appeared to be exchanging plenty of words, as both stars took umbrage at each other, with fans speculating Caicedo was slamming Jackson about his actions.

A video shot from the East Stand at Stamford Bridge and published by The Sun showed Jackson and Caicedo trying to get their points across, before young midfielder Cesare Casadei came in to diffuse the situation.

Following their heated discussion, both players looked frustrated as they headed over separately towards the tunnel.

The farcical scenes had initially been sparked when Madueke grabbed the ball to take the penalty while Palmer was down after being felled by Abdoulaye Doucoure.

Jackson then attempted to pinch the ball off the winger, before Palmer got up to claim his penalty.

However, Madueke was reluctant to give the ball up and hid it behind his back, before Jackson steamed in with a last-gasp attempt to steal the penalty, as Palmer shoved the Senegalese striker.

Gallagher and Caicedo acted as peacemakers, with Palmer eventually slotting the ball past Jordan Pickford.

Jackson had earlier got himself on the scoresheet, before he was withdrawn for Deivid Washington on 88 minutes.

However, the striker cut a frustrated figure on the bench as he looked glum, while Pochettino was also seen in conversation with him.

Speaking after the match, Pochettino stated publicly for the first time that Palmer is now the designated taker and Palmer himself confirmed this status in a post-match interview on NBC Sports.

'Everyone wants to score, especially the attackers. It's nothing, we have spoken about it, we have brushed it under the carpet,' Palmer began.

'I think it just shows the mentality of the players, they want to take it, but the gaffer has told us, it's been brushed aside and I'm sure it won't happen again.'

Pressed on whether he was Chelsea's first-choice to take penalties, Palmer then replied: 'Well, I am now, yes.'

Pochettino said in his press conference: 'First of all, I want to tell you to make clear that they know, the players know, the staff know, the club know, that the taker on penalties is Cole Palmer.

'It is a shame. I am so, so upset about this situation. We are talking in the dressing room about the image that we send because this is Monday Night Football and in every single country they were watching the game.

'We cannot send this type of image. It is a shame and I want to apologise to football people and our fans because that is unacceptable.'

Pochettino went on to say Madueke and Jackson would be 'out' if they acted in that way again.

'I told them this is the last time I accept this type of behaviour. They're all, involved in this situation, all out next time,' he told Sky Sports.

Mauricio Pochettino shared a few words with Jackson after he was subbed on 88 minutes

Blues boss Pochettino was incensed post-game and sent a warning to his Chelsea players

'This is not a joke. It is impossible after a performance like this.

'It shows we are in a process where we will learn a lot, we need to change and see more in the collective way than to think of individual achievement.'

Palmer added: 'Other players wanted to take it, which was understandable. I am the penalty taker and wanted to take it.

'We're just trying to show everyone that we want to take responsibility. Maybe it was over the top, the argument. We were laughing and joking about it.'
