Tess Daly has shared a rare photo of her youngest daughter as she and husband Vernon Kay marked her 16th birthday.

Proud mum Tess, 56, took to social media as she posted pictures from Amber's big day on Friday.

Tagging Vernon, 51, in the post, she wrote: 'Cannot believe our baby girl turns 16 today! HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMBER.'

In one sweet snap, Amber could be seen candidly laughing during a family meal at a restaurant as a bouquet of flowers lay beside her.

Another picture showed a beautiful assortment of balloons outside, with two big balloons in the shape of 16.

Inside, Tess decorated the house to make Amber's day as special as possible, with a gigantic 'Happy 16th Birthday' banner on display in front of her birthday cards.

Fans flooded Tess' post with birthday wishes to Amber, with many pointing out her striking resemblance to her Strictly Come Dancing presenter mum.

One follower wrote: 'I thought that was a picture of a young Tess. Wow and so beautiful.'

Tess, who shares also shares eldest daughter Phoebe, 20, with Vernon, is usually guarded when it comes to her private life.

Phoebe looks set to follow in the footsteps of her famous parents after making a soft launch into the world of red carpets and glitzy events.

Since turning 18 two years ago, she has been slowly creeping into the limelight, attending events such as the Vanity Fair EE Rising Star Party in London.

Meanwhile, two years ago Tess gave an rare insight into how she and Vernon parent their daughters, as she admitted Vernon being present is 'key'. 

She told OK! Magazine: 'As a mum, I just want to be as present as I can be. I pride myself on that.

'Teenagers don't always want to talk to you, but even if you're just physically there in the room with them… I'll plonk myself there quietly in the corner.

'You've got two little people who have become young adults. It's amazing and constantly rewarding. I love being a mum – it's my most important job.'

Tess continued by revealing how BBC Radio 2 host Vernon is the stricter parent between them both.

She explained: 'Vernon is a great dad – he loves them to bits. I don't know if there's a good cop, bad cop, but maybe he's a little stricter sometimes. But it's for the greater good and we're a good team.'

'I'm proud of how down to earth they are. That's what you want – kids who are kind and who have a good work ethic and respect people. You just try to mould good humans.'

When Phoebe was learning to drive, Tess admitted she tracked her on app as she worried about her safety while driving alone.
