Shinsung E&G announced on July 8 that it has published its 2025 Sustainability Report, outlining the company's environmental, social and governance (ESG) management performance.
This year's report is the first to receive third-party assurance from the Korean Standards Association (KSA). The association evaluated the company's sustainability policies, targets, reporting criteria and performance data, while also verifying environmental, social and financial information. Shinsung E&G said the external assurance enhances the objectivity and credibility of its ESG disclosures.
The company operates an ESG working council under the supervision of its board of directors. The council is divided into environmental (E), social (S) and governance (G) committees and works in coordination with the Sustainability Management Committee when major ESG issues arise.
Environment
Shinsung E&G has established and is implementing greenhouse gas reduction targets. Using 2022 as the baseline year, when greenhouse gas emissions totaled 5,849 metric tons (100%), the company has been pursuing phased reductions.
Greenhouse gas emissions over the past three years were 5,229 metric tons (89%) in 2023, 4,326 metric tons (74%) in 2024 and 4,145 metric tons (71%) last year, exceeding the company's reduction targets for three consecutive years. Last year, emissions were reduced by an additional 10 percentage points beyond the target level of 81%.
The company is also accelerating its adoption of renewable energy. It completed the installation of a solar power system at its Yongin smart factory in 2016 and introduced a building-integrated photovoltaic (BIPV) system at its Jeungpyeong facility in 2023. In resource recycling, 356.8 metric tons of the 393 metric tons of waste generated at its manufacturing sites last year were recycled, resulting in a recycling rate of 90.8%. Designated hazardous waste was limited to 0.86 metric tons.
Social
In the social category, the company actively operates statutory programs including maternity leave, parental leave and family care leave. Parental leave is available to all employees regardless of gender, and the return-to-work rate for employees who took parental leave was 100% last year.
Shinsung E&G also provides welfare programs including flexible working arrangements, an on-site childcare center, childbirth bonuses and school entrance grants for employees' children to promote a stable working environment. As a result, the company received Family-Friendly Company certification from the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family in January.
Governance
In governance, the company has strengthened its ethics and compliance management, board oversight, shareholder and investor rights protection, and risk management systems. Compliance with key corporate governance indicators reached 73.3% last year, up from 33.3% in 2023 and 60% in 2024, marking a second consecutive year of improvement.
This year's report also features a redesigned layout, including a dedicated ESG Data section to improve accessibility to key environmental, social and governance metrics and make extensive ESG data easier to review.
Shinsung E&G said the first external assurance of its sustainability report demonstrates the credibility of its ESG disclosures and reaffirmed its commitment to transparent reporting to strengthen stakeholder trust. The company has published a sustainability report annually since 2024.
