When cops received a QR code from a Minnesota woman named Kimberly Faith Christy, they were so shocked by its contents that it was initially dismissed it as fake.

The digital link, sent via email, took them to a trove of pictures and videos appearing to show Christy sexually abusing multiple children, prosecutors said.

Attached to the content was a message reading: 'I want to turn myself in for what I have done,' according to a new criminal complaint obtained by the Daily Mail.

The 'highly unusual and suspicious nature' of the email meant that it was initially flagged as a phishing scam, according to police.

Investigators later concluded that the link showed Christy, 37, sexually abusing infants as they screamed and cried, per the filing.

Christy, of Moorhead just along the Minnesota-North Dakota border, has now been detained on two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and two counts of using a minor in a sexual performance. She is yet to enter a plea.

Details of the alleged abuse laid out in the criminal complaint are extremely graphic.

In a video dated March 7, 2018, Christy is shown sexually abusing a girl aged between six months to two years old known as Child 2 'as she screams', according to the document.

Kimberly Faith Christy, 37, of Moorhead, Minnesota, has been accused of sending police evidence of herself abusing infants, including videos of the children screaming

Christy, of Moorhead, has now been detained on two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and two counts of using a minor in a sexual performance. She is yet to enter a plea

Christy, of Moorhead, located close to the North Dakota border, allegedly sent a self-incriminating email to the Clay County Attorney's Office on June 28

Both videos appear to have been filmed by Christy herself, police said.

More footage dating back to November 3, 2013, shows an attack on 'Child 1', who is described as 'a very young infant', according to the complaint.

The filing details how 'Child 1 can be heard crying' throughout the ordeal.

Photographs dated October 6, 2019, show a girl, 'suspected to be Child 2' being further abused, according to the complaints.

Christy admitted in an interview with detectives to sexually assaulting both children shown in the videos, police said. It is unclear how she knows them.

She appeared somber in her police booking photograph.

Social media photos show that Christy is a parent to multiple children, including a daughter who is now in her teens.

She appears to have been in a relationship with the same man, Mitchell Spitzmiller, for several years and lists her most recent job as a grill operator at a McDonald's restaurant.

Spitzmiller, 40, is also no stranger to police himself, as he was charged earlier this year with second-degree assault for allegedly attacking a man with a hammer, according to a criminal complaint obtained by the Daily Mail.

Clay County Court told the Daily Mail Spitzmiller is yet to enter a plea, and his trial is slated for later this month.

Kimberly Faith Christy, 37, has been charged with two counts of sexual conduct and using a minor in a sexual performance after allegedly sending video evidence of the crimes to prosecutors. The victims were described as 'infants' with at least one younger than two years old

If convicted of the charges she faces, Christy will likely spend the rest of her life behind bars.

She faces up to 30 years behind bars and a $40,000 fine on each of the two counts of sexual misconduct that she has been charged with.

The two counts of using a minor in a sexual performance have a maximum sentence of 10 years apiece, alongside a fine of up to $20,000 on each count.

Clay County District Court ordered Christy to remain in jail with a $500,000 bond for her release, an amount which would be reduced to $250,000 if she agreed to be released under a strict list of conditions.

The conditions included staying within the bounds of the state of Minnesota and Cass County which sits just over the border from Christy's hometown in North Dakota.

The Daily Mail has contacted lawyers for both Christy and her partner Spitzmiller for comment.
