Voters in three school districts in the Lakes Region voted on Tuesday, two of them approving school budgets, while a third elected a new school board representative.

Voters in Regional School Unit 14, which includes Windham and Raymond, voted to approve the $70 million school budget, with 3,773 voting in favor — 2,786 from Windham, 987 from Raymond — and 2,365 voting against, 1,744 from Windham and 621 from Raymond. This year’s budget is a 4.36% increase from the previous year, and comes as the district is set to begin paying its debt for the new middle school opening this year.

Voters in Maine School Administrative District 15, which includes Gray and New Gloucester, voted to approve the $39 million school budget, with 2,673 voting in favor and 1,836 voting against. Gray’s votes were 1,588-1,185 and New Gloucester, 1,085-651. This year’s budget is a 5.98% increase from the previous year, with notable investments including elementary and middle school level math and science instructional materials, replacement buses, continued facility improvements, and bus routing software.

Casco residents voted Courtney Kemp as their representative on the MSAD 61 school board, which also includes representatives from Bridgton and Naples. Kemp received 487 votes, compared to Philip Shane, who garnered 280 votes.
