The discussions will unfold as part of a formal six-year review of the United States–Mexico–Canada Agreement—known as “USMCA” in the United States, “CUSMA” in Canada, and “T-MEC” in Mexico. This is a pivotal moment for North American trade, as the Trump administration is seeking to build a more durable tariff wall, many U.S. trading partners are expanding trade networks to reduce their dependence on the United States, and China continues to strengthen its position in strategic industries around the world.
