Renee Zellweger revealed the harmless lie she told to earn her Screen Actors Guild card decades ago during an interview on The Tonight Show.

The 55-year-old actress was promoting her highly-anticipated movie Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy, which debuts on Peacock February 14, after she hid her ring finger amid engagement rumors with Ant Anstead.

Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon mentioned he had her co-star Leo Woodall on the show recently, where he mentioned that he once lied to get a role.

When Fallon asked if the two-time Oscar-winning actress had ever lied for a role, she said she didn't... though she did say she lied about getting her SAG card.

'Well, I did lie to get my S.A.G. card,' she revealed on Thursday's episode of the NBC late-night talk show.

'I was auditioning for a beer commercial, and they asked me if I could rollerblade. And this was -- they were brand-new, right?' she said.

She added, 'Nobody had ever seen the wheels in that configuration before, but I thought... Texas, roller skating birthday parties, how hard can it be, right?'

'Y'all, it was different,' Zellweger said with a laugh, before she explained how the gig continued to go downhill... literally and figuratively.

'They're like, "Right, you got that, right?" Okay, so, that's fine. So, put on this bikini. Okay,' she added.

'So, then it's like, "Right, here we go." And they go, "Right, now, hold all -- take this 12 pack and put it on your shoulder." Yeah, yeah, it gets better. "Now go to the top of that hill,"' she said, as Fallon admitted he would come clean and admit he lied.

Though Zellweger admitted, 'No, no, we didn't lie, we went for it. Yeah, suck it up, buttercup.'

Her new film Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy is the fourth film in the franchise based on the novels by Helen Fielding.

The film - like the book Mad About the Boy that it's based on - reveals that Colin Firth's Mark Darcy had passed away. 

She revealed, 'I love mark Darcy, and I love Bridget and mark. And I love working with Colin. And working with somebody for 25 years, you know?'

'You know, I was really surprised at how emotional it was to be on the set that day. I mean, I read the book, I read the script, we did the table reading,' she said.

'I know what's going to happen. But when Colin was standing there in all his mark Darcy finery with his mark Darcy little briefcase, I started welling up,' she admitted.

Zellweger added that the film follows the title character who is now, 'a single mom and, 'she's just trying to get through it and heal. We all know about that, right?'

Bridge Jones: Mad About the Boy will be available to stream on Peacock starting Friday, February 14.
