Sophie Habboo has revealed that she ate her placenta after giving birth to her son, but admitted she was unsure if it has had any benefits as she lamented her hair is 'falling out by the second'.

The TV personality, 31, welcomed her first child, Ziggy, two months, with her husband, Jamie Laing, 37, in December 2025.

And opening up on being a mum and postpartum life in an Instagram Q&A with her fans on Sunday, she revealed she had followed in the steps of a number of stars by eating her placenta.

Some people believe that eating the organ – whether in the form of freeze dried capsules, cooked and roasted, or blended raw into a smoothie – can replenish iron levels, promote a healthy hormone balance, lessen symptoms of post-natal depression and help with hair loss.

However, there is no medical evidence to support these claims, with several doctors criticising the trend, saying it could be at best pointless or even dangerous.

And Sophie admitted that she was doubting consuming hers had had any positive effects, as she revealed that her hair was still shedding rapidly.

Opening up on postpartum life in an Instagram Q&A on Sunday, she revealed she was doubting consuming her placenta had had any positive effects as her hair was shedding rapidly

In answer to one fan asking for any must-haves for postpartum, she shared a snap of her holding a clump of hair that had fallen out.

She penned: 'I mean I'd love to know the answer too. My hairs falling out by the second xxx I mean I ate my placenta? Not sure if it did anything?'

Her best friend Melissa Tattam recently confirmed on their Wednesdays podcast that Sophie had opted to have her placenta dehydrated into capsules.

Among the stars who have spoken out about eating the organ - which forms during pregnancy and acts as the baby's lifeline while in the uterus - are fellow Made In Chelsea star Millie MackintoshKim Kardashian and Vick Hope.

It comes after Sophie reflected on the 'pressure' to bounce back after giving birth, as she and Jamie attended the BRIT Awards earlier this month.

Reflecting on her first few weeks as a mum, she told Daily Mail: 'He's now smiling and laughing and he just looks at me and smiles and I go "you make my world go round!" which is the best.'

While Jamie added: 'It's just the coolest thing ever, I have a little baby that I just love more than anything, it's the best thing ever.'

Sophie then opened up about feeling the need to bounce back, saying: 'I think there's always pressure to look and feel your best, but I just think it's so fun this evening so I just wanted to go for something fun, he's got his sunglasses on!'

While she said of her husband: 'Jamie in his dad era is really bringing it, he's restyled himself', with Jamie agreeing: 'This is my midlife crisis era, and I'm gonna dress like this forever now.'

This month also saw Sophie mark her first Mother’s Day with ‘the hardest, most rewarding and most magical little bundle of joy’ with an album of snaps.

She gave a glimpse into her home life as a mother, posting a photo of her baby's feet as they sat at a restaurant table and penned a lengthy caption about the 'emotional rollercoaster' of motherhood.

'15 weeks of being a mama and wow… what a ride it’s been,' she wrote. 'I didn’t realise it was possible to feel so many emotions all at once.

'I totally get now what people mean when they say they wish they could freeze time.

'One minute I’m dreaming about the day I can sleep through a full night again, and the next I’m tearing up at the thought of you not needing me in the night or falling asleep in my arms anymore.

'The emotional rollercoaster is wild, it has changed me in ways I never expected, and I’m so grateful for that. The hardest, most rewarding and most magical little bundle of joy all in one.

'Being your mama is, and will always be, my greatest achievement and joy and the thing I am most proud of. You really are the missing piece to my puzzle.

'To all the mamas who have been by my side through these early weeks, I love you. And to all the mamas around the world, you truly are all heroes.

Jamie also took to his socials to share a sweet clip detailing key moments of their life, which spanned from being best friends, travelling the world, getting married and welcoming their first child.

Their posts follow Sophie and Jamie's adorable family snaps of their baby son, giving a glimpse into their upcoming Disney+ parenthood documentary, Raising Chelsea.

It was revealed last year that they are bringing their journey to becoming parents to screens in a docuseries exploring everything from Sophie's pregnancy to balancing their busy professional lives.

The couple filmed Ziggy's birth for the show and the first trailer showed a glimpse of Sophie's traumatic birth complications that led to an emergency C-section.

The trailer begins with Jamie reflecting on their story, saying: 'We met on a legendary reality show, Made In Chelsea and things have been crazy ever since… TV shows, brands, podcasts, and we're having a baby.'

An excited Jamie and Sophie are then seen on their way to the private maternity unit, The Lindo Wing at St Mary's Hospital.

Sophie said: 'We think it's happening,' as Jamie added: 'Let's go guys!'

But after being told the baby's arm was through the cervix, the couple are told Sophie urgently needed to change her birthing plan.

Gripping each other's hands, Jamie reassured his terrified wife as she gave birth, before the pair both broke down in tears of joy as they heard Ziggy's first cry.

The series also features the couple's parents, Sophie's influencer sister Georgia, and close friends, including Jamie's former Made In Chelsea co-star Oliver Proudlock.

Speaking about their upcoming series last year, the couple said: 'For nearly a decade, we've brought audiences along the highs and lows of our personal and professional lives through TV, radio, social media and our podcasts.

'It's such an honour to now partner with the incredible teams at Disney+ and Dorothy St Pictures to bring our next chapter to viewers across the globe.

'Navigating our lives with a baby on the way has opened up a whole new stage of our relationship – we can't wait to give you a front row seat!'
