Luganda Translation Workshop at WordCamp WordCamps are casual, locally-organized conferences covering everything related to WordPress. Executive Summary
The Luganda Translation Team gathered at WordCamp Masaka for a focused translation workshop dedicated to making WordPress more accessible to Luganda speaking users. The session brought together 14 contributors, including 4 new contributors, and created space for hands-on translation, review, mentorship, and community connection.

Over the course of the workshop, the team translated 291 strings A string is a translatable part of the software. A translation consists of a multitude of localized strings. and reviewed 97 strings across WordPress core Core is the set of software required to run WordPress. The Core Development Team builds WordPress. files, themes, and plugins. This progress strengthens the foundation for Luganda localization Localization (sometimes shortened to "l10n") is the process of adapting a product or service to a particular language, culture, and desired local "look-and-feel." and shows the value of meeting in person to move shared open-source work forward.

Whether someone is an experienced translator or new to localization, every contribution helps make WordPress more usable for the Luganda speaking community.

Event Agenda and Activities
Introductions: The workshop opened with welcomes, introductions, and context for the day’s translation goals.
Tools training and Q&A: The team reviewed how to use GlotPress GlotPress is the translation management software that powers Translate.WordPress.org. More information is available at glotpress.org. for submitting, checking, and reviewing translations.
Community networking: Participants connected with developers, designers, translators, and WordPress enthusiasts from the Masaka region.
Hands-on translation session: Contributors worked on WordPress core files, including the WordPress 7.0.x development track

The workshop made notable progress in the WordPress 7.0.x development track.

Administration Interface: translated by 7 contributors.
Core Development: translated by 9 contributors.

Together, contributors created 291 translations and reviewed 97 strings, helping improve the quality and availability of WordPress in Luganda.
