Who’s funding what? Horizon Europe just opened a €224.7 call for big collaborative projects on chemicals, advanced materials and critical raw materials.

Why does this call matter? The European Commission wants to strengthen Europe’s industrial competitiveness and reduce dependencies on external suppliers for strategically important materials, while also encouraging greening and circularity in value chains.

What’s the policy context? The call aligns with the EU’s Critical Raw Materials Act, which pushes for breakthroughs in substitute critical raw materials, as well as the Clean Industrial Deal, which aims to get new technologies to the market faster. Plus, it includes topics developed with European industry through Horizon Europe partnerships such as Made in Europe, Processes4Planet and Innovative Advanced Materials for the EU.
