This is an unofficial fan-made reinterpretation of “I'll Be Brief (Story Demo 2)” from Street Fighter Alpha 3.
I chose this piece because of its distinctive cinematic character and because it represents a less conventional side of fighting game music: music created for the narrative and presentation of the game rather than for a traditional character battle theme.
For this arrangement, I wanted to explore what this material could sound like through my own production language.
I reworked the original musical material with modern trap and hip-hop-oriented drums, bass, sound design and arrangement techniques while retaining the musical identity of the source.
The track is part of my broader NU-CPS2 concept: a personal project exploring the reinterpretation of music and aesthetics associated with the CPS-2 era through contemporary production.
My goal with NU-CPS2 is not simply to recreate retro game music, but to explore how the musical DNA of classic fighting games can be translated into a modern production context.
This is an independent fan work and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Capcom.

This arrangement is based on the original “I'll Be Brief (Story Demo 2)” from Street Fighter Alpha 3. The track was reinterpreted and produced in my own style, incorporating modern trap, hip-hop and bass-oriented production elements.
0:00–0:15 — Introduction / presentation of the source material and opening motif, recontextualized within the new arrangement.
0:15–0:31 — Main source-derived melodic material is introduced and developed over newly produced rhythmic elements.
0:31–0:48 — The original musical idea is further transformed through the addition of trap-oriented drums, bass and modern production elements.
0:48–1:04 — Repetition and development of the main source material with additional rhythmic and sound-design changes.
1:04–1:20 — Further variation of the source-derived material, with the arrangement moving further away from the original soundtrack presentation.
1:20–1:39 — Main musical motif returns within the full NU-CPS2 production, combining the recognizable source material with original production elements.
1:39–1:53 — Outro / final reinterpretation and conclusion of the arrangement.
This wasn't downloadable from SoundCloud, so I just streamed it to evaluate it; caveat that SoundCloud may apply some compression or otherwise change how this sounds a bit.
Alpha 3, a personal favorite, I jump een it! Love love this soundtrack, and it's a genuine surprise to see a more brief, incidental theme like this be the source tune choice. :-)
This version samples the drum machine SFX from the source before going into the arrangement. The brass feels MIDI-like, but it sits well enough in the texture, so it sounds more stylized. This is an alright beat, but ultimately underdeveloped. As a next-gen sound upgrade for "I'll Be Brief", this is all good. But our Submissions Standards say "Your arrangement must be substantial and original" and "Submissions must be different enough from the source material to clearly illustrate the contributions, modifications, and enhancements you have made." There's definitely the changes in instrumentation, but the structure's basically the same as the source, which is already a very brief cue.
At :42, you've essentially heard the entire arrangement, then it copy-pastas, and the track's only 1:53-long, so it's not substantial enough when it's this repetitive. From Nastu's submission comments, obviously the goal was the hold fast to the structure and style of the original song, which is brief and repetitive, and adapt it to a modern sound palette, and there's nothing wrong with that in a vacuum, it just falls outside of the more substantial development and interpretation we're looking for.
Again, for its stated purpose of remaking this SFA3 theme, it's good, and there's no need to change it just to get it approved for OC ReMix; that said, I'll offer this. It'll sound like I'm saying you would need to shift into a more psytrance or DnB direction or that we're expecting a track that's 4 minutes long, which is not the case; Rockos's Chronicon "Catactras" is a really good example of taking a relatively minimal theme and doing more variations of it by playing with different textures and sound design. If you were open to seeing what else you could do with the theme, that might give ideas on how you can have a more dynamic arrangement.
Even if it's not with this piece, hope to hear more music from you, Natsu. :-)
