It’s not official yet, but Sink is in talks to star in A24‘s adaptation of “The Guest,” Emma Cline‘s bestselling novel; she’ll also produce the project alongside A24 and Ari Aster‘s Square Peg. “The Guest,” about a young female grifter who navigates a summer week in the Hamptons, was one of the most critically acclaimed novels of 2024, making the longlist for the Pen/Faulkner Award among other accolades. It’s been a coveted project to adapt in Hollywood ever since, and it looks like Sink’s package at A24 won out over nearly a dozen other buyers, possibly because of the director she’s packaged with.
That’s none other Lorene Scafaria, who hasn’t helmed anything since her buzzy 2019 film “Hustlers,” starring Jennifer Lopez, Constance Wu, and Keke Palmer, among others. Scafaria has directed episodes of “Succession” and “I Love LA” since her last picture, but “The Guest” sounds like a perfect film to mark her big-screen return. Other film credits for Scafaria include 2012’s “Seeking A Friend For The End Of The World” and 2015’s “The Meddler.”
If this package for “The Guest” moves ahead, it’ll be Sink’s next film after “X-Men,” which starts shooting in early 2027. The “Stranger Things” alum isn’t attached to anything else right now, outside of the FX/Hulu series “The Marriage Plot,” so expect A24 to fast-track production on this one, shooting as soon as next summer.
