Students at the University of Rhode Island have something else to be excited about: Rhody Eatz is back up and running for the Rams to enjoy.
Rhody Eatz, a popular food destination for students next to Butterfield Hall last year, has moved and is now parked at the bottom of the main quadrangle.
“I think we have a pretty good location,” Executive Chef Michael Comire said. “Between the library and the quad and near engineering.”
Rhody Eatz is a perfect place for students and staff to go if they are looking for a quick meal in between classes and need a bite to eat.
“We’re here Monday through Friday for the students and staff in the community,” Comire said. “We’re here for visitors, volunteers and even construction workers.”
Along with the new location, Rhody Eatz has changed their menu so that they can get new food items out to the public to try to grow their popularity.
“The food truck is evolving right now, and we have got classic menu items, and we’re adding a few more,” Comire said. “We got a Southwest Veggie Burger, and we are going to be upgrading that with pico de gallo and guacamole.”
One new menu item that has been added is a special: a bacon tomato grilled cheese.
When it comes to food prices, Rhody Eatz tries to be as reasonable as they can and even offer alternative options when it comes to paying for students.
“We’re definitely very well priced, and everything is cost out,” Comire said. “We want students to know that they can use their dining dollars and Ram account so they have multiple ways to pay for it.”
Students who are looking for a late-night snack will have to look towards the dining hall or corner store, as RhodyEatz is only operating during lunch hours from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
“The only thing that would stop that is a lot of rain or if it gets too cold,” Comire said. “But we’re not operating at night right now, so we should be relatively comfortable.”
Rhody Eatz is keeping details under wraps right now, but they plan to continue to improve their menu and add new things that students and staff can look forward to waiting for.
If students or staff are worried about missing out on getting a chance to try the food truck, there are many ways that Rhody Eatz advertises their truck on social media so people know when they are around.
“We found a good parking space,” Cormire said. “We have a convenience being out here, and we are pretty much looking to keep this space for now.”
With Rhody Eatz now back, students have an exciting new spot on campus to enjoy some of their favorite foods.
