OpenAI’s GPT-6 Overhauls ChatGPT With Interactive Visual Answers

Дата публикации: 08-10-2026 22:32:06

OpenAI rolled out GPT-6 with Intelligent UI, letting ChatGPT generate interactive diagrams, charts, calculators, and tools directly in responses. Paid users gained access October 7, free tiers followed the next day. The models also start answering web queries faster. This marks the chatbot's most visible interface change in years.

OpenAI just transformed how its flagship chatbot delivers information. With the rollout of GPT-6 and a new capability called Intelligent UI, responses no longer stop at blocks of text. They now mix in diagrams that users can tap, charts that update live, forms to fill out, and even compact working tools. The change hit paid subscribers first on October 7 and reached free users the next day.

TechRadar tested the update immediately and highlighted five practical tasks that feel entirely fresh. Ask about splitting a dinner bill among friends with varying appetizers and drinks. Instead of a static list, ChatGPT produces an interactive calculator complete with sliders for each person’s share and a button to copy the final totals. TechRadar called it a mini app appearing without any coding prompt from the user.

But the shift runs deeper. OpenAI trained the new models to judge when visuals add value. A query about bicycle gear systems might return a labeled diagram of a seven-speed setup. Tap the derailleur and explanatory text pops up alongside it. The same holds for teaching Mahjong. Tiles appear in scrollable categories with highlights that demonstrate valid plays. These elements arrive progressively as the model thinks.

Fast. Visual. Usable.

The Verge reported that this arrives alongside two tuned versions of GPT-6. Paid plans receive GPT-6 Sol. Free and Go tiers get the lighter GPT-6 Luna. Both sit inside the standard chat window rather than specialized modes. Legacy desktop apps on Windows and Mac won’t support the interactive pieces yet. The Verge noted the rollout targets ChatGPT’s weekly audience of more than 1.2 billion users.

Speed forms another piece of the story. For searches that pull web data, GPT-6 Instant begins replying 44 percent sooner on average than its predecessor. In agent-style tasks, the higher reasoning setting starts outputting at the pace of the prior model’s medium effort while still scoring higher overall. Answers can begin streaming before the full reasoning finishes. Users read the start while more content assembles behind it.

Product manager Aarush Selvan told WIRED that a dedicated design team spent considerable time deciding exactly when to insert a chart or button. “We have a design team that spent a lot of time figuring out when adding a diagram, chart, or buttons adds value versus when it’s starting to feel cluttered,” he said. The result avoids overwhelming every reply. Simple questions still receive plain text. WIRED described early tests that included an anatomy diagram of a slug with tappable parts and a personalized San Francisco apartment affordability calculator with movable sliders for income and costs.

Interactive experiences extend further. Users have already generated a Flappy Bird clone inside the chat, according to posts on X. Others created retirement savings projectors, recipe planners that adjust shopping lists based on guest count, and airplane seat explorers. TechCrunch observed that these tools remain inside the conversation. No need to open another tab or learn a separate interface. TechCrunch pointed out the customizable nature too. Users who prefer fewer visuals can dial the feature back through settings.

OpenAI positioned the update as more than decoration. Complex subjects become easier to grasp when users manipulate the visuals themselves. A GDP trend chart turns editable. A hiking route map adds interactive waypoints. The model selects the format that best matches the query rather than forcing every answer into the same mold.

And the timing matters. This lands weeks after OpenAI introduced always-on agents called Dots and collaborative Spaces. Intelligent UI feels like the conversational layer catching up to those agentic ambitions. Instead of describing a tool, ChatGPT now delivers one ready to use. Enterprise administrators control access through workspace settings. Some organizations may keep the older behavior for consistency.

Early reactions on X mixed excitement with caution. One product leader observed that the feature could swallow simple single-purpose apps. Another marketer noted that companies must sharpen their positioning because buyers can now test comparisons directly inside ChatGPT. Games, calculators, quizzes. The barrier between conversation and application narrows.

Official documentation confirms the change applies only to the main Chat tab. Work and Codex experiences continue on different models for now. Mobile apps support the new responses. Browser use works without issue. The progressive rendering relies on a native component library and compiler that OpenAI built to display pieces as they generate.

So what does this mean for knowledge workers, educators, and developers? Tasks that once required exporting data to spreadsheets or opening design software now happen in one window. A financial analyst might request a cash flow model with adjustable assumptions and watch the chart respond instantly. A teacher could ask for an interactive timeline of historical events that students tweak to explore cause and effect. The output feels closer to software than to search results.

OpenAI’s own announcement emphasized that GPT-6 also showed stronger resistance to jailbreak attempts in safety testing. The company published a system card with further details. Yet the headline remains the interface change. After years of refining the underlying intelligence, OpenAI turned its attention to how that intelligence appears on screen.

Users testing the feature today encounter a chatbot that feels less like an oracle and more like a collaborator with its own toolkit. The text still matters. But now it shares space with elements users can touch, drag, and modify. That combination changes the texture of everyday interactions with AI.

Whether the approach scales without clutter or confusion remains to be seen. Early signs suggest OpenAI measured carefully. The design team weighed each addition. For now, the update gives millions of users new ways to ask questions and receive answers they can immediately put to work. The conversation just became something you can click.
