Apple has announced the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max, introducing a new 2nm A20 Pro SoC, a 48 MP Fusion Main camera with mechanical variable aperture, improved thermal architecture, faster networking, and new Apple Intelligence features through iOS 27.
The new Pro models also bring a redesigned Dynamic Island, larger storage options up to 2 TB, upgraded camera controls, and improvements focused on sustained performance, battery life, and computational photography.

The primary camera upgrade is a new 48 MP Fusion Main camera with a mechanical variable aperture. It uses six laser-cut blades and a new rotor mechanism to automatically or manually adjust light intake and depth of field across four preset aperture stops, reaching down to ƒ/1.48 for low-light photography.
Apple has also expanded the manual camera controls, allowing users to adjust shutter speed, white balance and aperture, while an on-screen histogram provides additional control over exposure.
For video recording, the camera system supports post-capture Cinematic effects at up to 60 fps, 4K Dolby Vision HDR time-lapse recording, and algorithmic audio separation for isolating dialogue or music.
The camera system also introduces Apple Reference Image and Provenance capabilities. Captured pixel data is cryptographically signed and processed through Private Cloud Compute to create an immutable reference image alongside the primary asset in the Photos app. This is designed to help identify downstream post-processing, while metadata tracking is also compatible with the SynthID standard.
A20 Pro 2nm SoC & Improved Thermal DesignBoth iPhone 18 Pro models are powered by the new A20 Pro SoC, manufactured using a 2nm process. The chip features a six-core CPU with two performance cores and four efficiency cores, a seven-core GPU with Neural Accelerators, and a Dual 16-core Neural Engine for on-device AI processing.
Apple says the GPU delivers up to 40% faster rendering compared with the A19 Pro, while memory bandwidth has increased by 50% compared with the previous generation.
The internal packaging has also been redesigned, positioning the silicon die next to the system memory rather than stacking it. This removes memory from the primary heat path and connects the chip directly to a redesigned vapor chamber with three times the surface area of the iPhone 17 Pro. Apple says the new thermal design can deliver up to 40% improved sustained performance.

The iPhone 18 Pro series features Apple’s N1 chip for wireless connectivity, supporting Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6 and Thread networking.
Cellular connectivity is handled by the C2 modem, which Apple says reduces power consumption by 15% compared with the C1X and supports U.S. mmWave bands.
Display & Dynamic IslandThe iPhone 18 Pro features a 6.3-inch OLED display, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max gets a 6.9-inch OLED display. Both use Super Retina XDR panels with ProMotion adaptive refresh rates of up to 120 Hz, Always-On display functionality, and Ceramic Shield 2 protection.
Apple has redesigned the Dynamic Island with a smaller form factor while retaining the Face ID sensor system. The new Dynamic Island can display up to three Live Activities simultaneously.
Battery & ChargingApple has increased battery capacity through the redesigned internal architecture, particularly in eSIM-only variants. The space previously occupied by the physical SIM tray can instead be used for larger battery cells, providing approximately two additional hours of video playback.
The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max support MagSafe and Qi2 wireless charging up to 25W, along with USB-C fast charging. Apple says both models can reach 50% charge in approximately 15 minutes using a 60W adapter or higher.
The specifications list up to 34 hours of video playback for the iPhone 18 Pro and up to 43 hours for the iPhone 18 Pro Max.
iOS 27 & Apple IntelligenceThe new Pro models ship with iOS 27, which introduces a beta version of Siri AI powered by Apple Intelligence.
The updated Siri adds on-screen context awareness, cross-app context retrieval and a dedicated camera analysis mode. iOS 27 also introduces multi-device iPhone Handoff for shared phone numbers, expanded parental management settings, and Safari Notify Me for web page tracking.

The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are available in 256 GB, 512 GB, 1 TB, and 2 TB storage configurations. The iPhone 18 Pro starts at ₹1,64,900 in India, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max starts at ₹1,79,900.
With the new models released, Apple India raises prices for older models: iPhone 16, iPhone 17, iPhone 17e, and iPhone Air get a major price hike in India.
