Sometimes, a track takes its time to hook you in, starting out simple so you don't even notice it's pulling you in until you're already entranced.

This is not one of those tracks.

Arranging Nowhere Prophet from his new Fall & Rise album, prophetik music flexes his synth mastery and production chops right out of the gate with some absolutely captivating tones, and the flexing continues through the whole track. The entire mix is a parade of compelling synth textures, complemented by punchy bass and grooving electronic percussion.

"I don't think I'm hearing a big tissue-box guitar with rubber bands for strings in this piece, but it sure sounds like it's what I'm hearing! :-D

Opens up with a buzzy synth underneath a singing bowl-like lead texture. There's a crunchy dissonant chord between :13 - :17 that makes the hairs on my back stand up before we get the thumpy rubber-band guitar and a Moog-style bass patch with the source intro. The groove built from the delay is hard to catch on first listen, but once the mallet percussion comes in around :29 (with the squelchy bass hit) the syncopated 4/4 is much clearer."

Indeed, this is a piece that warrants multiple listens, and that rubber band-esque pluck is for me a highlight of the first half. There is a lot going on, and even on the third or fourth listen, I feel like I'm still finding new details and flourishes, all without anything feeling like it's getting buried or lost.

On a more personal note, I'm proud to call Brad one of my oldest internet friends. We both started on the OCR forums around '05, a couple of teenage n00bs learning our way around music and production. I wish I could take this track back in time and show it to 2005 prophetik; 22 years of remixing later, and the accumulated expertise and passion for the craft are on clear display.

Fantastic mix all around.
