Photographer: Tim Nicol
Photo taken: June 23 in Republic, Ferry County
Photographer’s description: “A hummingbird taking a bath in one of several water features in our hummingbird garden.” Taken with a Nikon D850 and Tamron 150-600mm lens, zoomed out to 600mm, with an ISO of 500, shutter at 1/1000 and aperture of f/8.
Critique: “The light nicely captures the color of the hummingbird while the fast shutter stops the water’s motion, making it seem like ice.”
Below is a gallery of previous Reader’s Lens selections. Share your recent photo from around the Northwest. Submit online at seattletimes.com/submit-photos. Our favorite will appear in this spot next week. We judge the year’s best and award a prize.
