When I saw the title of the letter in the Sept. 12 paper, “President Trump is doing a great job,” I thought, this must be satire. Imagine my surprise upon reading that this letter appeared to be genuine.

The writer bemoaned the fact of people being disrespectful to the president. I would say that respect has to be earned. Also, to address the idea that Trump is doing a great job, I heartily disagree. I think he is the worst president in our history.

I am trying to not be demeaning, especially as my father told me, “If you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all.” Wise words to live by. In addition, if Mr. Trump told his supporters, on Jan. 6, 2021, to “peacefully and patriotically make their voices heard” it was only after he told them to ” Fight like hell, or you won’t have a country anymore.”

In closing, I will acquiesce to the author’s plea that we be positive, not negative. I am positive that the current POTUS is the worst president in history.
