The 4th annual Maine Stage extravaganza offers two nights of fabulous burlesque, drag, flow and vocal performances, curated by the enchanting La Petite Mystique. Each night, a dozen artists will dazzle and delight. Friday is hosted by Rev. Legs Malone. On Saturday, Chartreuse Money takes the reins.

Spend one, or up to four days immersed in a festival that combines traditional bluegrass music with educational and homesteading workshops including beekeeping, fermentation, carpentry and blacksmithing. Performers include The Kruger Brothers, Appalachian Roadshow, Acoustic Unlimited, Lonesome Ace Stringband and Bronwyn. The Crooked River Gathering also features jam sessions and a kids music program. Plenty of food trucks and craft beer will be available.

If you love the sweet, smooth sounds of ’70s to early ’80s soft rock, the Portland Yacht Rock Festival is a can’t-miss experience. This year, it sets sail for two nights. Ship to Shore is the local musician supergroup who will be slinging the hits. The setlist includes Air Supply’s “Lost in Love,” America’s “Sister Golden Hair” and “Escape (The Piña Colada Song)” by Rupert Holmes, among a few dozen other tunes you’ll nostalgically sing along with. Yeehaw! For one night only, Lucky E Rodeo Company presents the super-charged showcase Bulls N’ Broncs. The event features bull riding, bareback horse riding and saddle bronc horse riding. Several tons of dirt will be loaded in, transforming Cross Insurance Arena into a rodeo-ready venue that will be bursting with exciting action. Want even more? Longtime ZZ Top drummer Frank Beard died on Aug. 17. Five years ago, bassist Dusty Hill passed away. But lead singer and guitarist Billy Gibbons, along with ace musicians Elwood Francis and Michael Monahan, are keeping the ZZ Top torch burning, and you can hear for yourself Sunday in Bangor. With hits like “Legs,” “Sharp Dressed Man” and “Gimme All Your Lovin,'” you’ll be rocking all night long. Be sure to catch an opening set by George Thorogood and the Destroyers. They’re still entirely bad to the bone, b-b-b-b-bad.

Ryan Adams is a Portland-based painter and muralist. His background in graffiti morphed into large-scale mural work, hand-lettered signage and a studio practice.

Adams will be sitting down with Maine Trust for Local News executive editor Carolyn Fox for a conversation about street art, and how it creates a community narrative. With bold, colorful work, Adams’ work often conveys messages about social and cultural issues.

Dance-punk act LCD Soundsystem is fronted by James Murphy. Popular tracks include “Dance Yrself Clean” and “Daft Punk Is Playing at My House.” They called it quits in 2011, then rebooted in 2016. LCD Soundsystem released five albums, starting with their breakthrough self-titled 2005 release. Expect a wild night at Thompson’s Point.
