We are seeking an experienced Senior Education Support Officer (Clinical) to lead the Central Clinical School Education Support Team and support delivery of the Sydney Medical School Doctor of Medicine (MD) Program.

You will lead a high-performing team and oversee operational support for clinical teaching, assessment, timetabling, curriculum and student activities. Working closely with academic leaders, clinicians and professional staff across the University and Sydney Local Health District, you will coordinate complex processes and drive continuous improvement.

This role requires a resilient and adaptable leader with strong judgement and experience in education administration and people leadership.

The position is primarily based at the Susan Wakil Health Building, Camperdown, with a minimum of four days on site each week. Occasional work at other locations may be required, and hybrid arrangements can be discussed with the hiring manager.

Your key responsibilities will be to:

• lead, plan and manage the work of the Central Clinical School Education Support Team, providing effective supervision, coaching, feedback and performance management to build a high-performing and engaged team;
• coordinate and deliver operational support for clinical teaching activities, including assessments and examinations, in line with Sydney Medical School, Faculty and University requirements;
• oversee complex timetabling and clinical education scheduling, including logistical coordination and clear communication with students, academic staff, clinicians and key stakeholders;
• provide high-level administrative and operational support to the Manager, Education Support and Academic Leaders in Education, building collaborative relationships across Central Clinical School, Sydney Medical School, the Faculty of Medicine and Health and Sydney Local Health District;
• support staff development through annual performance and development reviews, professional development and career planning;
• contribute to curriculum development and continuous improvement initiatives that enhance education services and course delivery;
• support the effective implementation of Faculty and University policies, procedures and compliance requirements; and
• proactively identify operational challenges and implement practical, service-focused solutions.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• experience delivering high-quality education support services within a complex organisation, ideally in a tertiary education or health environment;
• experience supervising, mentoring and developing staff, including managing performance and supporting professional development;
• knowledge of University administrative processes, policies and procedures within a tertiary education environment;
• experience using learning management systems, together with an understanding of timetabling and scheduling student activities;
• strong organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and perform effectively under pressure;
• the ability to work independently and collaboratively while demonstrating initiative, sound judgement and operational agility;
• excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, with a strong client focus and the ability to build effective relationships with academic, clinical and professional stakeholders;
• advanced proficiency in Microsoft 365 and the ability to use technology to improve efficiency and service delivery;
• experience troubleshooting audiovisual and IT issues, including proficiency in Zoom and Microsoft Teams;
• a demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement and service excellence; and
• the ability and willingness to move regularly across campus to provide hands-on support for teaching activities and stakeholder needs.
