The Salem City Central Crime Branch (CCB) police arrested two persons, on Saturday (September 26, 2026), who promised to provide high returns on investment (ROI) and cheated ₹1.52 crore.

According to the police, K. Mahesh (30), a resident of Seshanchavadi near Vazhapadi, was running a computer sales and service shop. Mahesh, through his friends, met D. Prabakaran (38) and K. Vinoth Kumar (37), residents of Cheran Street in Chinna Tirupathi and Vasudevan. They promised high returns for investing in their company.

Based on their promise, from August 22, 2022, to August 2025, he had paid ₹1.52 crore in several instalments. However, they did not pay the ROI as promised, and while Mahesh asked to return his money, they did not provide a proper answer.

Following this, he lodged a complaint with the CCB. The police registered a case, arrested Prabakaran and Vinoth Kumar on Saturday, and are investigating further.
