A 44-year-old man was allegedly murdered by his family members near Yethapur in Salem.

The deceased was identified as A. Govindaraj, a resident of Neiyamalai near Yethapur. He was married to Palaniammal, and the couple has a son, Murugan (21), and a daughter. Four months ago, he attacked his father-in-law Manickam during a family dispute. He was arrested and later released on bail. Meanwhile, Govindaraj was missing since September 15. The Yethapur police registered a case and held inquiries. The police found that his wife, son, father-in-law, and brother-in-law, Periyasamy, had allegedly beaten him to death and buried the body in a nearby forest.

On Saturday, the police exhumed his body and a post-mortem examination was conducted on the spot. The police are inquiring with his family members regarding the murder.
